Jaylen McGill, Broome
McGill is without question one of the best freshmen in the area, and he backed it up again on Friday. He had a monster game in the Centurions’ victory over Blue Ridge, rushing 20 times for 251 yards with five touchdowns and a two-point conversion.
Kemren Prysock, Byrnes
With a couple injuries in the backfield, The Rebels gave Prysock a heavier workload, and he stepped up. Prysock rushed for 107 yards on 14 carries and caught five passes for 69 yards with two total touchdowns in a 30-7 win over Boiling Springs.
Mitchell Powell, Dorman
Four different guys have put toe to leather for the Cavaliers this season, with multiple players handling all three phases of the kicking game. Powell might have set himself apart on Friday. He kicked second-half field goals of 27 and 38 yards, and what proved to be the game-winning extra point in the fourth quarter as Dorman rallied from a 12-0 deficit for a 13-12 win.
Edward Jefferies, Gaffney
Jefferies suffered a serious hand injury early in the season against South Pointe, losing the tip of a finger and missing significant time. He returned against Spartanburg in a big way. Jefferies had six catches, 141 all-purpose yards and three total touchdowns in the Indians’ overtime victory.
Braden Mashtare, Landrum
Mashtare has been huge for Landrum’s 2-0 region start. Against Ninety Six on Friday, he rushed for 125 yards with four touchdowns on eight carries, and caught one pass for another touchdown in the Cardinals’ 45-31 win.
