The beat goes on for one of the biggest breakout stars in the state of South Carolina. Kacy Fields Kacy Fields 6’0″ | 190 lbs | RB Beaufort | 2023 State SC turned in yet another sensational performance on the ground, rushing for 271 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries. He’s provided a massive spark for Beaufort’s offense with his lightning-quick feet and acceleration down the field and has the potential to take it the distance on any given play. He’s racked up an incredible 774 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in his last three games and should be the driving force for the Eagles as they eye a Class 3A state title.
Jaylin Linder
Jaylin Linder
The Bluffton Bobcats needed Jaylin Linder to step up in the Bridge Bowl especially after losing their starting quarterback, and the explosive senior receiver delivered. Linder went off to propel a second-half comeback, catching six passes for 191 and two touchdowns. The Bobcats are trying to get the ball into Linder’s hands as much as possible, and he is a force anytime he reels it in, scoring on a beautifully designed 71-yard screen pass. He’s become so much more than just a deep threat this year and has turned into an electric two-way player as evidenced by a clutch interception in overtime. Linder has put it all together so far in his senior year and will be a defining factor in Bluffton’s hopes for a surprising postseason run.
Xaviar Garvin
Xaviar Garvin
The Estill Gators have quickly become the biggest surprise this year in Class 1A, and Xaviar Garvin has been the driving force at quarterback. Garvin led the Gators to a tremendous upset over No. 1 Bamberg-Ehrhardt, rushing for 182 yards and two scores on 13 carries while adding 142 passing yards for a pair of touchdowns. He’s taken the next step with his ability to make quick reads while possessing the ability to scramble and use his legs to elude the defense. The offensive line has been outstanding, but Garvin has done his job and so much more at quarterback to make Estill a clear contender in Class 1A.
Jeremiah Mceachin
Jeremiah Mceachin
When the Battery Creek Dolphins lost running back Damien Freeman to injury, it was up to Jeremiah Mceachin to lead his team to a crucial region win over North Charleston. The senior back got the job done in style, rushing for a stunning 262 yards and three touchdowns as the Dolphins rallied to victory in the second half. A hard-nosed runner with the strength and tenacity to maintain his balance and break tackles, Mceachin willed his way to a monster night and wore down the Cougar defense in the process. The Dolphins would love to have Freeman back on Saturday against Beaufort, but Mceachin is certainly up for the task of navigating through a tough Eagle front. A gritty performance from Battery Creek’s line could be the key for Mceachin – and the Dolphins – to pull the upset.
Jaiden Jones
Jaiden Jones
Jaiden Jones wasn’t scared to go up against a Lucy Beckham defense that hadn’t allowed more than 10 points in a game before the clash with May River. Jones made it a different story with his sensational running, racking up 184 yards and two scores on 21 rush attempts. A veteran fixture of the Shark lineup with a high motor on every carry, Jones has become a fixture on both sides of the ball for a May River team that loves to grind down opponents with its ground attack. Jones was involved early and often in an impressive 49-14 victory over the Bengals, and his power and relentlessness in the backfield could be the spark to propel May River to a Region 7-4A title.
