Multiple under the radar linebackers are emerging weekly, and there are a few small-town linebackers who are ready to emerge and see some D1 interest come their way.
Nick Pace – Colquitt County
A new standout defender for the powerful Colquitt County Packers, PAce is a quick, instinctive linebacker having an excellent junior season. He has a long frame, he’s tough, and he knows how to hit. Whether he’s playing linebacker or helping on special teams, he’s ready to leave a bruise when he meets the ball carrier. He’s also reliable at times in coverage as he already has one pick-six on the season. He’s physical in the run game and has been a reliable run defender all season, making 68 total tackles and 6 TFLs on the season in six games, helping lead an impressive defense that has only given up 20+ points once this season. His biggest game of the season was against a very strong Lee County team where he made 18 tackles in a big 48-27 win. He has a true nose for the football and could see some D1 interest head his way sooner than later if he keeps up his stellar play.
Braden Henslee – Habersham Central
One of the more underrated linebackers in North Georgia, Henslee has been extremely productive so far as a junior, making tackle after tackle so far this season. He’s not the biggest linebacker you’ll find but he brings a physical presence in a 5-foot-10 185-pound frame. He’s got some quickness to him and does a good job of dissecting plays and getting off blocks to find the ball-carrier. He does his job consistently, and if not blocked properly, he knows how to go make a tackle. He’s reliable against the run and knows how to help make plays on special teams as well.
Darius Wells – Montgomery County
In the small town of Mount Vernon is where you’ll find one of the more productive linebackers between Macon and Savannah. The small-town middle linebacker has been consistent all season, locating the ball-carrier early on and attacking the ball. He’s a sure tackler, hits hard, and consistently does his job, filling up the stat sheet all season so far. Through the first six games, Wells has made 76 tackles, showing why he’s one of the top overall defenders in the area. His best game of the season so far came against Telfair County where he made 20 total tackles. He’s quick, instinctive, and continues to play great football each week.
Tristan Mullins – Sonoraville
A lightning quick middle linebacker, Mullins is a true under the radar linebacker with instincts and the ability to stop the run while getting after the quarterback. He reads the play well, reacts quickly, and has leadership qualities as a senior this year. He’s tough, can play physical, and is one of the surest tacklers in the area. He’s been a tackling machine this season, leading the defense every week and showing why he’s one of the more productive linebackers in North Georgia. He’s averaging 13.3 tackles per game and doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. He’s made over 10 tackles in every game but one this year, totaling 80 tackles so far. He’s smart, productive, and playing excellent football so far this year.
