This is going to be an article some may not like. I took the time to sit down and look at some of the teams I think will be playing for state this season. These aren't accurate just my opinion. You may think differently and feel free to let me know. Here's what I think.

6A Brandon vs Tupelo

Both of these teams have started out this year very well. They are both showing off great dominance. Brandon is running the ball heavy behind Nate Blount and [player_tooltip player_id='108964' first='Jarvis' last='Durr']. They also have [player_tooltip player_id='107036' first='Lester' last='Miller'] and [player_tooltip player_id='350934' first='Quincy' last='Phillips'] making plays for them at receiver. They also have a very stout defense. Their coach Sam Williams makes sure they play with a lot of confidence.

Tupelo plays some very good ball and they are consistent. They are undefeated for a very good reason. [player_tooltip player_id='344100' first='Jeremiah' last='Harrell'] is leading their offense and is making sure they put up big points every game. They have some true studs out there who will line up and play hard every game. I think that this is the match up we will see for 6A.

5A Picayune vs West Point

I honestly think that this year we will see a rematch in the 5A state championship. Picayune is loaded and they are playing aggressive as always. [player_tooltip player_id='108971' first='Dante' last='Dowdell'] is the leader of this bunch. He has his team on a roll. [player_tooltip player_id='344053' first='Chris' last='Davis'] and Darrell Smith are getting in on some action too. Picayune plays good defense and they also play very fast on defense. I think they have what it takes on both sides to get it done.

West Point is looking very impressive after a slow beginning to this season. [player_tooltip player_id='344052' first='Kahnen' last='Daniels'] has been lights out and showing why they keep the ball in his hands. He is absolutely amazing. Their defense is playing stout under first year defensive coordinator Charles Herron. This team has turned it around and they definitely have what it takes to win it.

4A Louisville vs Poplarville

We have seen this championship game twice already and it looks like we will see it again. Louisville has a very stout team this year and they look like they are headed back to the state title again this year. [player_tooltip player_id='340743' first='Gabriel' last='Moore'] has been lights out on offense and Key Jackson is holding it down for them on defense. [player_tooltip player_id='340862' first='Christavious' last='Savior'] has been the man in the secondary for them. This can run the ball with Jaden Triplett or Jykevious Goss. This team is loaded again this year and they are looking for another ring around the Big Louisville town.

Poplarville is playing disciplined and looking to make it out of the South. I'm sure if they make it to the state title they are going to play harder than they have against Louisville at state. These guys are playing good offense. The question will be if they are athletic enough to keep up with Louisville's super talented offense.
