Over half of the opening round of the playoffs took place this past Friday night, while the "big boys" begin their quest to the UNI-Dome this week.

As is typically the case, several games featured standout performances and we will recap those right here and now:

[player_tooltip player_id='246721' first='Beckett' last='DeJean'] - OABCIG - QB/DB

To get past a game Unity Christian, OABCIG needed all of [player_tooltip player_id='246721' first='Beckett' last='DeJean']. And that is exactly what the Falcons got. The recently-offered walk-on spot to the University of Iowa to join his brother, Cooper, Beckett accounted for all four touchdowns and over 300 yards of total offense.

DeJean was 16 of 35 passing for 223 yards, while rushing 25 times for 113 yards and two more scores. That is 60 snaps he was accounted for. Oh, and to add on top of it, DeJean also made eight tackles while on defense.

Brody Tuttle - Centerville - QB

It was an old-fashioned western shootout between Centerville and Des Moines Christian, with Brody Tuttle leading the Big Reds to victory. Centerville scored twice in the fourth to gain the 50-42 victory.

As for Tuttle, he was an exceptionally accurate 9 of 13 passing for 156 yards and two touchdowns, while also racking up 185 yards and four scores on the ground. Paired with classmate [player_tooltip player_id='320435' first='Sam' last='Hash'], who had 190 yards on 30 carries, and Centerville is going to be a difficult out.

[player_tooltip player_id='152904' first='Isaac' last='Kacmarynski'] - Pella Christian - QB

Pella Christian was able to knock Iowa City Regina out of the postseason, as senior [player_tooltip player_id='152904' first='Isaac' last='Kacmarynski'] put together the kind of game you would expect out of an experienced leader. He was 12 of 21 passing for 138 yards with two touchdown passes to Jack Fancher.

On the other side of the ball, Kacmarynski racked up nine tackles and picked off a pass. The Eagles are going to be very difficult to eliminate with Kacmarynski playing at a high level.

[player_tooltip player_id='104080' first='Dylan' last='Wiggins'] - West Sioux - QB

It didn't take West Sioux long to make quick work of East Sac County, as most expected. They scored 35 points in the first quarter alone to get the clock running, as senior [player_tooltip player_id='104080' first='Dylan' last='Wiggins'] was incredible.

Wiggins missed just one of his 11 pass attempts for 166 yards, with four of them going for touchdowns. Wiggins, built in the mode of current Iowa State quarterback Hunter Dekkers, a former West Sioux standout, seems to be even better once we hit the end of the October and November.

Cael Ortmann - Remsen St. Mary's - QB

In what was another laugher of an opener, Remsen St. Mary's dropped Audubon, 76-0, scoring 34 points in the first quarter and 21 more in the second. While some might question if eight-player athletes can compete at the highest level, I can guarantee you that Cael Ortmann can.

Ortmann, a reigning all-stater, was 7-for-8 passing for 192 yards with four touchdowns, adding another 105 yards and three scores on the ground. Ortmann has the size, talent and skill to make it in college. And Remsen St. Mary's, despite being small in terms of numbers, is a ridiculously talented football team.
