Merkwan is in my view the best wideout that South Dakota has been catching passes in the state today and whatever team brings him on will be lucky to have his talent on their team. Merkwan has been the number 1 option on the best offense in South Dakota and he has been showing his prowess every week by catching deep passes and scoring TDs. Merkwan is not only able to have a great burst of speed when he gets open but can also maintain it to bring down some spectacular catches. Merkwan uses his big physical body to get above defenders and beat just about any man coverage that you try to throw on him. His hardworking abilities and other intangibles are going to make him a dream player for coaches that are looking for a hardworking and talented WR who can beat DBs in about every way that you can imagine. Wherever Merkwan goes, there will be a team getting an elite offensive player who has a high ceiling and a high floor already.
Brenden Begeman Brenden Begeman 6'2" | 195 lbs | RB Herreid/Selby | 2023 State – RB, Herreid/Selby
Begeman is continuing his campaign of dominance this year and has not let up the numbers that he has been putting up every single week this year. He has been running his tail off and breaking records along the way, and Begeman does that in just about any way you can think to get those rushing yards at the end of the week. In most games, you will see him as the bell cow who gets 25-30 carries overall and goes for upwards of 200+ yards. Other times he might only get 10-15 carries in a game but you better bet that he is going to have over 300 yards when he gets the ball in his hands that few times in the game. Begeman is a RedZone beast too, when you get in a short-yardage situation, you better bet that he is going to be the guy who gets the ball to get that touchdown. Whatever coach will be lucky enough to have this kid in their backfield, he will be a hard-working player who puts his head down and rushes the ball at a high level. He is a humble and talented back who is going to be a big impact on whatever team he lands on that higher level.
Bennett Dannenbring Bennett Dannenbring 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB SF O'Gorman | 2023 State – QB, Sioux Falls O’Gorman
Seeing Dannenbring on the field is like second nature to him and watching him throw the pig skin will make any coach happy with his talent and drive to outwork anyone. Dannenbring is a unique style of dual-threat QB who brings his own edge to the mix and does things in his own way that makes it hard for the defense to truly contain him. Dannenrbing plays an aggressive style of QB that you do not see often in High School and it will translate well to the college level, that being he is willing to give up some accuracy if it means getting that big play to set his team up for winning. At the end of the day, that is what he cares more about than stats or his own success, but pushing his team to victory at any chance that he can get. He is a team player at heart, he will always do what is best for his team to win and you see that unfold every single night when he is on the field. Dannenrbing is not afraid of an interception or an incomplete pass or even not throwing the ball much, but when he gets the chance you bet that he will do everything in his ability to get the victory for his team.
Jarrett Theisen Jarrett Theisen 6'5" | 295 lbs | OL Watertown | 2023 State – G/T, Watertown
Theisen is one of the most college-ready players that I have watched tape of and I am excited to see what he can do at higher levels of play if he goes to that level. Theisen can do so much when he is working on the offensive line and that is what his biggest advantage compared to other OL is, he can play every position on the line. When it comes to playing at the college level, it is very important to be able to play multiple positions and do it well. That is exactly what I see when I see him play, he can shift interior and play as a great run-blocking guard who can create lanes and holes for his running game to thrive. He has natural gifts too uses to advantage of his height and size being already college ready too. Not to mention he can play on either outside tackle position with his footwork and ability to stop explosives edge rushers in their tracks, something that he has shown time and time again to do. Theisen is ready to take that next step with what he can do now, and any coach that brings this kid onto their program will not be sorry.
