Highlights
Musch punched his ticket as a stock riser with 572 yards and scoring 9 (yes 9) touchdowns in a playoff-clinching win against Madison County in week 8. He followed up this performance with 188 rushing yards and 200 yards through the air the following week against Priceville. The Westminster QB has shown the heart of a lion and given performances that could put him on the map. Musch is exceptionally comfortable and aware of the offense. He makes quick decisions, distributes the ball to playmakers, knows when he is hot, and seems to make the right decision on most snaps. Musch throws catchable balls and has the propensity to win with touch and ball placement in the intermediate and deep passing game. Also, Musch is athletic enough to make guys miss in the open field and be a scoring threat if he isn’t accounted for as a runner. With a historical performance to get into the big dance, it’ll be interesting to see how Musch builds on this game and leads his team in the postseason.
Jayden Brown
Jayden Brown
Brown looked like a man amongst boys in his performance against Muscle Shoals. On nine catches, he produced 204 yards and four touchdowns. With a 6’3 200, pound frame Brown has the next-level size and knows how to utilize it. He shows solid body control/ positioning when battling for 50/50 balls and maintaining physicality through the catch. This extends into his ability to be a substantial red zone threat and mismatch on the perimeter. Brown seems to be a natural pass catcher with strong hands and solid hand-eye coordination- making him a reliable threat as a top-tier perimeter threat.
Highlights
Jennings is an extremely solid QB who’s shown a significant leap in production and skill from last year. The Pinson Valley product showed fluid throwing mechanics with an excellent over-the-top release. He’s also quick enough to release to get the ball out under pressure and keep plays alive. This throwing motion produces tremendous pop/ velocity to his throws consistently. Jennings also shows consistent accuracy in the intermediate game and drops the ball in the bucket with timing and accuracy. If Jennings can continue his production into the playoffs, he’s sure to pick up significant offers and gain more traction in his recruitment.
Gabe Spencer
Gabe Spencer
Spencer turned in a dominant performance in week 7. With a powerful 214 yards on the ground with two touchdowns on 24 carries, Spencer looked like one of the better power backs in the state. His low center of gravity, in addition to excellent lower body strength, helps him drive through tackles and generate yardage after contact at a high level. Spencer’s physical attributes are matched by his competitive spirit. He finishes runs with authority and always seems to fall forward. This competitive drive allows him to be a runner who punches above his weight, be effective in short yardage/ between tackles situations, and be a workhorse for an offense.
Brown’s 254 yards 3 touchdown performance adds to his impressive season, where he’s currently in the top five in rushing yards within the state. Brown Shows an immediate burst when running out of the backfield and attacks gaps with a full head of steam- allowing him to reach the second level at a high rate. He also knows how to allow blocks to develop and use his lineman to his advantage. When allowing the gaps to open up, he can change his pace to hit it at the right time and make the most out of these plays. It’ll be exciting to see how far Brown’s legs can carry his offense heading into the playoffs.
