Nampa came away with a big program win as they beat the Mavericks on the road behind do it all running back Daniel Carrillo. The Bulldogs were able to get on the board early and often vs the Mavericks by using their devastating running game and some timely passes from quarterback Gabriel Navarro. It seemed like the Bulldogs plan all night was to control the clock to keep the fast paced Maverick offense off the field winning the time of possession battle 30 mins – 14 mins. The Mavericks continue to struggle on offense only mustering up 14 points in the second half but failed to get the ball back after a muffed punt in the final 6 mins in order to close the gap even more. Nampa moves on to host Centennial in a 2 v 5 matchup in the cross division game where the Mavericks will now host Capital in a 3 v 4 matchup this week in the 5A SIC.
Post Falls 21 – Coeur d’Alene 6
Post Falls has established themselves now as the number 1 seed in the North and will go into the playoffs with a first round bye. It was a big week for Post Falls as the win not only set them up for the playoffs but it feels good for the program who just barely missed out on the playoffs last year to be the number one seed from the norther section of the state. Post Falls has been able to do some amazing things this season behind a solid offensive group and a defense that makes every offense work for yards. Coeur d’Alene has a little tougher road in order to get into the playoffs now as the must defeat Lewiston in the final game of the season if they want their postseason hopes to continue. They will now be battling for the number 2 seed in the North and must win in order to not be pushed to a possible at large bid.
Highland 28 – Madison 21
Highland has had so much turmoil this year with their long time head coach stepping down in the summer. Coach Sorrell has got the Rams back to their winning ways and secured the number one seed in the East and a first round playoff bye. Behind the leadership of Mason Fullmer Mason Fullmer 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Highland HS | 2023 State ID the Rams defense has made a big turn around along with players like Colton George Colton George 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB Highland | 2024 State ID the Rams are going to be hard to score against. On offense Drew Hymas Drew Hymas 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Highland | 2024 State ID is maturing into a very talented signal caller and will lead a Rams offense that is dangerous. Madison with the loss still control their destiny when it comes to the post season. If the beat the defending state champ Rigby they will be the number 2 seed in the East but if they lose then they will go to an at large bid which still sees them in the playoffs. They should be in major consideration for an at large bid due to strength of schedule this year.
Kimberly 29 – Buhl 34
In a our game of the week it was the boys from Buhl who came out on top vs Kimberly. Buhl once again was able to use their powerful run game to slow down the spread offense of Kimberly. It came down to a possession here or there between two of the top teams in their respective divisions. Buhl should feel good going into the final week of the season as they will cap off one heck of a year as they get ready for what should be a high seed in the playoffs and home field advantage. Kimberly should also feel good as they lost to a quality opponent and with a win in the final week they will also be headed to the playoffs this season.
