Last Friday, October 21st, The Chiefs of Canton played host to Livonia Churchill. Both team historically, playoff contenders in D1 & D2 but with both having a down year, PRIDE was on the line for this KLAA Cross-over battle. If you missed the action… heres the recap.

The first quarter was a warm-up round… both teams getting a feel for the ring, until Canton's Junior RB, [player_tooltip player_id='368031' first='Devon' last='Pettus'] decided to throw a haymaker in the form of a 79 yard rushing TD to put the Chiefs up 7-0. The Chargers were knocking on the endzone's door, but a huge goal line stand made by Chiefs Senior LB, Andon Locke, left Churchill empty handed.

The Chargers would strike early in the second with a 94 yard rushing TD from Senior RB, Jonathon Lytle-Montgomery. The Chiefs answered back, and kept answering in the second… Starting with a 45 yard rushing TD from Senior QB, Aiden Carr. The ensuing kickoff, Canton caught Churchill sleeping and recovered an onside kick! The Chiefs used that momentum and marched down the field, finishing with a 14 yard rushing TD from Junior ATH, [player_tooltip player_id='188015' first='Caleb' last='Williams']. The next drive for the Chargers ended with a fumble, giving the Chiefs great field position. Pettus' number was called once more with a 7 yard TD. With a few ticks left until halftime, the Charger looked to the air to get down the field but Chief's LB, Andon Locke picked off Junior QB, Evan Snead to end the half.

The second half started off with Work Horse, [player_tooltip player_id='368031' first='Devon' last='Pettus'] finding the endzone yet again… this time on a 41 yard rush. The Chief's tried their luck once again on another onside kick and got it! Feeding off that momentum, Senior RB, Joseph Najduk, decided to join the TD party…. busting a 35 yarder for 6. Churchill wasn't going to lay down though. The next drive, Lytle-Montgomery, busted a 50 yard rush for 6!!! But the Chiefs wanted to have the last word… and that last word was: Joseph “Jo-Jo” Najduk for the TOUCHDOWN!!!

[player_tooltip player_id='368031' first='Devon' last='Pettus'] is to the KLAA, what Derrick Henry is to the NFL… A nightmare to tackle. The 6'1 230lb RB, is build like a fridge but has the speed of a slot receiver. The RB ended his junior year putting college scouts on notice! He can run, block, and catch the ball out the backfield. 100% a D1 college prospect entering his senior year in 2023.

This 3 star recruit is no stranger to the spotlight. With offers from Nebraska, Tennessee, CMU, Pitt and more, Williams makes the crowd hold their breathe whenever the rock is in his hands. Great speed, quick change of direction, VISION, great route running, a lockdown corner and dangerous returner. Williams is one of the top 2024 recruit in Michigan and next season as a Senior… might be the most explosive player in the KLAA.

Jonathan Lytle-Montgomery, RB Churchill 2023: 20 CAR 242 YDS 2 TDS

Montgomery is a player who has been flying under scouts radar but I think its time to wake up on this dude. Has D1 speed, can get the tough yards between the tackles and is an absolute weapon catching out the backfield. Looks like could be a great slot at the next level.
