Valley Vista currently is ranked #11 in 6A. After coming off a 48-0 loss against Pinnacle, Valley Vista needs to bounce back fast and snag a victory if they want to get into the top 8 seeds in 6A. Highlighted last week, Valley Vista have many talented players which includes wide receiver tandom Blaise Nelson and Mikel Henderson. Averaging around 24 points a game, this is a must win for them to keep their playoff hopes alive.
O’Connor comes into this matchup #2 in the 6A rankings, with only defending state champions Saguaro ahead of them. O’Connor has hopes to improve their already great seeding, and also trying to sneak into The Open. With a 4-2 record just like Valley Vista, they have impressive wins over Red Mountain, Cesar Chavez, and Brophy. With the 2 losses coming from Saguaro (ahead of them in 6A rankings) and Centennial (#7 in The Open), this week will be a solid win for O’Connor. Led by their defensive studs Ryan Davis (Kansas State commit) and Blake Ware, O’Connor will go as far as they will take them this week, as well as the rest of the year.
The battle of 4-2 squads this Friday feels like a huge game for both teams, and can create momentum for the winner that can carry all the way to the playoffs.
