Bingham Miners
The Miners took on a challenging Region 3 foe in the West Jordan Jaguars. A loss would have put Bingham in a tough position to claim the top spot in Region 3, and the Miners came out firey. Bingham was dominant from start to finish winning 48-0 over the Jaguars. The Miner’s defense, led by senior linebacker Kaden McBride was fantastic and decimated the West Jordan offense. Bingham running back Havea Fotu scored three touchdowns to lead the Miners to their second-highest point total of the season.
Roy Royals
The Royals took on the red-hot Granger Lancers last Friday night. Granger hadn’t lost a game since August, so a win for Roy in the Lancer’s house seemed like a tall task, but they made it look easy. The Royals jumped out to a 21-6 halftime lead and never looked back in the 35-6 victory. Roy wide receiver Robert Young and running back DawQwan Snider scored four of Royal’s five touchdowns. Roy will have a chance to close out the regular season 3-0 if they can take care of business vs. Taylorsville.
Riverton Silverwolves
The Silverwolves were looking for a big win over the Mountain Ridge Sentinels, and they were able to get it 38-13. The Riverton defense shut out the Mountain Ridge offense in the second half while Jake Myers tossed three second-half touchdown passes, all of which went to tight end, Logan Dunfield. Defensive tackle Jackson Riddle and cornerback Evan Burton each added an interception to help Riverton get the Region 3 win.
Corner Canyon Chargers
In a rematch of one of last year’s premier games, the Chargers avenged their loss to the Lone Peak Knights. Linebacker Owen Borg Owen Borg 6'2" | 190 lbs | LB Corner Canyon | 2023 State UT and the Corner Canyon defense shined as the Knights never crossed the goal line and struggled to move the ball all game long. Chargers quarterback Isaac Wilson Isaac Wilson 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Corner Canyon | 2024 State UT was outstanding with both his arm and legs as he shredded the Lone Peak defense. Corner Canyon is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, and pair that with their strong coaching, and you have one of the state’s best teams.
