At the start of week two of Houston High School Football season, I attended #8 The Hightower Hurricanes vs #5 The Westfield Mustangs. These two teams are in the top 10 in all of Houston this was going to be one of the best games of the week. However, once the Mustangs got into their groove on offense they could not be stopped no matter how hard the Hurricanes tried. By the end of the 1st half, the score was 30-0 Mustangs and ended with a score of 51-29 resulting in a Mustang's victory. In this article, I will be writing about the standout athletes on Westfield's defense and Hightower's offense.

Westfield Defense

#95 Ray Jones DT Sr 6'0 325 lbs and #99 Xavier McCray DT Jr 330 lbs

These two are the big men upfront on Westfield's defensive line Ray Jones and Xavier McCray's defensive tackles. With these two behemoths together they weigh over 650 pounds which would be overwhelming for any offensive line to deal with. Hightower had a rough time running the ball against this duo. They were the main forces stopping any play Hightower had whether it was a run play or pass play. Ray and Xavier will continue to be essential to Westfield's defense throughout the season.

Hightower Offense

#1 Joseph Stewart Jr QB So 5'10 175 lbs

Joseph Stewart is ready to make a big name out of himself. Joseph as a quarterback has a pretty good arm, but he is also mobile with commendable footwork. Joseph under pressure or in a pinch is not afraid to run the ball which would usually, get him the 1st down. Being new to varsity and starting for #8 in the city is a lot of pressure, but I'm sure Joseph will fit into the Hightower Hurricanes offense. Ended the night by rushing in a touchdown himself and throwing two receiving touchdowns.

#25 Austin Bowen WR So 5'7

Another new player on Hightower's varsity is Sophomore wide receiver, Austin Bowen. Austin has a decent amount of speed and has explosive power to quickly get in position to receive the pass. Once Austin builds more muscle and overall speed he will be a great weapon for The Hightower Hurricanes. Austin ended the night with one touchdown.

#3 Santana Wilson CB, WR Sr 5'10 175 lbs

Santana Wilson is fast and quick expected from a wide receiver. One of Santana's best showing was when he received a punt and returned it for a touchdown. Also, with Santana's speed, he was one of the main receivers getting the ball by beating out his defender. Santana had two touchdowns by the end of the night one of them being from a punt return.
