Britton Tidwell || DB || 5’10 || 153 || Bountiful High School || 2025
Tidwell may only be a sophomore but was arguably the best player on the field in Friday’s matchup between the Red Hawks and Bonneville Lakers. Tidwell picked off two passes in Bountiful’s win over the 5-0 Lakers, with the latter a pick-six. Tidwell has a nose for the ball and always deflects passes in the game’s most significant moments. In addition, he’s a fluid athlete with good hips that allow him to keep pace with some of the top talents in the state. Tidwell can play zone or man coverage and should continue to grow into one of the state’s top defensive backs.
Collin Sheffield || LB || 6’2 || 190 || Skyridge High School || 2023
Sheffield was a tackling machine and had one of the Falcon’s four interceptions in last Friday’s dominant win over Westlake. As one of the state’s best linebackers, Sheffield shines patrolling the middle of the field. He reads quarterbacks’ eyes like a safety and has no problem staying with pass catchers. Sheffield has some of the state’s best hands and has three interceptions on the season. In addition, he is a sure-fire tackler who does an excellent job wrapping up and driving his legs. He fearlessly fills holes and takes on blockers. Sheffield is another outstanding player on the state’s best team.
Brady Freeman || DL || 5’11 || 205 || South Summit High School || 2024
Freeman leads the state in sacks with 13 and has three games with three or more sacks on the season. Freeman also competes in wrestling, which shows on the field with his quick hands. He’s so athletic that he will sometimes even line up at linebacker and display his elite speed. Speaking of speed Freeman has one of the quickest get off’s in the state and often beats offensive tackles off the snap. In addition, Freeman possesses good bend around the edge, making him a nightmares matchup for any offensive tackle.
Porter Hall || DB || 6’1 || 185 || West Jordan High School || 2023
Hall has been one of the key playmakers and leaders on the Jaguar’s potent defense. West Jordan held Riverton’s offense to just seven points last Friday. Hall always makes his presence felt on defense, where he flies around at free safety to disrupt offensive game plans. He also impacted the game by blocking a punt and returning it for a touchdown. Hall is a hard-hitting safety who also shines in coverage. In addition, he excels at reading quarterbacks and playing in the box, making him one of the state’s top safeties.
