Week 4 Game Balls: Grand Strand &#038; Pee Dee

Chopping through scores of highlights and huge performances each week is getting more and more difficult.   We're chalking it up to the area's players' getting closer to mid-season form. This week's games showed why. From SCIA ball all the way up to one of the biggest schools in the state, five players had the types of evening that jumped off the page and deserve a Prep Red Zone game ball.   No priority here. Just good ol' fashioned alphabetical order.   She'Fon Boyd, DL, Andrews   Boyd has been a big part of the Yellow Jackets' 4-1 start. Case in point: His performance against Waccamaw Friday evening. In that game, the 6-foot-1, 290-pound senior defensive tackle had six solo tackles, another five assists, two sacks and a forced fumble. He's averaging better than one TFL for game and we're having a hard time seeing the team left on Andrews' regular-season slate that can alter that clip.    [player_tooltip player_id='336122' first='CJ' last='Cox'], DL, Loris   So many different Lions defensive players could have ended up here after Loris held Conway to seven points in Friday's victory. But we went with Cox (pictured) after the athletic 6-foot-1, 215-pound defensive linemen put up five solo tackles (plus three assisted tackles), three tackles for loss, a sack, three quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. We saw his No. 33 jersey in the backfield throughout the game, and his numbers backed up our initial thoughts.   [player_tooltip player_id='202739' first='Scott' last='Saylor'], QB, Carolina Forest   Break down some film from Friday's game and know what Saylor was up against, and only then can you tell how good of a game he had. Without Carolina Forest's most-used tailback and with Stratford putting all their effort into slowing Saylor down, all he did was throw for 276 yards and a touchdown while completing 66-percent of his passes. He also ran for another 26 yards and a score. It's the third time in five games Saylor has gone over 300 total yards, and it's not surprising that those were the Panthers' three best games of the year.   Daniel Stanley, QB, Aynor   The quarterback position at Aynor is a little different than in most spots. And even though Stanley's three passes in a win over Philip Simmons were all completed and went for 52 yards and a touchdown, it was again his legs that mattered most. Stanley rushed 18 times for 184 yards and another score, propelling the Blue Jackets to another huge over ground yardage (450). He's leading the team with 381 yards this year.   [player_tooltip player_id='322302' first='Teague' last='Ward'], RB/WR/LB, Williamsburg Academy   Ward is a walking reminder of what's great about small-school football. In helping WA to a 41-22 win over Pee Dee Academy, Ward contributed 16 total tackles and a pass break up on defense and ran for 101 yards and a touchdown while catching also a pair of passes. What we loved about his highlight reel from the game the most, however, was his laying out defenders on different plays to open holes for his teammates.
