I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended but most importantly, ONLY players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Jesus Ortiz
Jesus Ortiz
This offensive line for Lynden is one of the best in the state in my eyes. I mentioned left tackle Dane Gatterman Dane Gatterman 6’2″ | 290 lbs | OL Lynden | 2023 State WA last week, this week it is senior Jesus Ortiz. During Lynden’s week 3 win over Squalicum HS, Jesus was dominant. Playing the left guard position next to Gatterman, no one was getting through this Lynden offensive line. Ortiz has great feet, moving laterally quickly for his size. Jesus excels in the run game, creating giant holes for his running backs. Lynden runs the ball quite a bit, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Jesus or any other Lynden offensive lineman lands on a future list.
The senior has been dominant on the field for years and will continue his playing career next year at the University of St. Thomas located in Minnesota. During Kamiak’s week 3 game against Monroe HS, Max showed why he’s going to be playing at the next level. Rust did the little things very well. He was maintaining his blocks until the whistle blows and always keeping his feet moving, leading to numerous pancakes. Rust is one of the top offensive lineman in the 2023 class, he’ll be a name to keep an eye on.
Highlights
Davon Nelson
Davon Nelson
Davon and the whole Cascade HS offensive line has been outstanding this season. That has shown on the field by senior running back Julian Thomas Julian Thomas 5’6″ | 170 lbs | RB Cascade | 2023 State WA , who has over 500 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns in the first 3 games of the season. Nelson is only a sophomore but he is playing a big role on this offensive line. He moves his feet extremely well for his size and holds blocks just as good as anyone in the class. He’ll be someone to watch in the offensive and defensive lines for this year and the coming years.
Jonathan Holdway Jonathan Holdway 6'7" | 325 lbs | OL Reardan | 2024 State WA
Jonathan Holdway Jonathan Holdway 6'7" | 325 lbs | OL Reardan | 2024 State WA
Not many people know Jonathan or the rest of his Reardan HS team due to the fact they are a 2B school. They are a very gritty 2B school so Holdway and company shouldn’t be forgotten. Holdway lines up at multiple spots on the offensive line, showing his versatility well. He has quick feet and is as strong as any class of 2024 offensive lineman I’ve seen. There aren’t many players in the 2B class who compares to his size, but watching Jonathan on the field is a special scene.
**Karson attends Sumner HS**
Karson has had a great start to his senior season with Sumner. He is effective in both the run and pass game. He moves his feet well and is very athletic for his size. He moves just as well as other offensive lineman in the 2023 class, even being able to get upfield to open up more holes for his ball carriers. Week 3 against Emerald-Ridge, Karson was dominant on the field again by creating big holes and giving his quarterback enough time when needed. Starr is a name I’ll be watching closely this year.
