Friday Night Lights is here during week two of The Houston High School football season. I decided to watch the biggest game of the week #3 Atascocita Eagles vs #2 Katy Tigers. The game was very competitive Katy scored then Atascocita scored and this repeated happened back and forth the entire game. Until The Atascocita Eagles could not score back in time resulting in the Katy Tigers' victory with a final score of 35-28. It was truly a great game to witness both teams put on a great showing and I can see why they are two of the best teams in Houston, TX. In this article, I will be writing about both teams' strong defensive players.

Katy Defense

#33 Damian Neveaux OLB Sr 5'10 185 lbs

Damian Neveaux is an outstanding outside linebacker. Damian is good at striking the ball holder and has great tackling form didn't miss any open field tackles. Damian was always involved in the action even if he wasn't making a tackle. On one play Damian had such ferocity and tenacity he push back one of the Atascocita's offensive linemen into the backfield. Damian was one of the main playmakers on Katy's Defense.

Atascocita Defense

#99 [player_tooltip player_id='259529' first='Samu' last='Taumanupepe'] DT, NG Sr 6'3 380 lbs

It is extremely difficult for this man not to stand out just for his size and appearance on the field. [player_tooltip player_id='259529' first='Samu' last='Taumanupepe'] is an incredible defensive tackle with not only size but quickness and power to boot. Despite his size, Samu is light on his feet and uses his quickness to get through the offensive line and get into the backfield. Samu is a top college prospect being recruited by numerous colleges and universities but recently decided to commit to Texas A&M University for the fall 2023 football season.

#84 Dillon Johnson CB, FS, SS Sr 5'7 165 lbs

Dillon Johnson is an exceptionally fast cornerback. Dillon did not allow any receivers to get past him even though The Katy Tigers were a run-heavy team. Keeping this in mind Dillon would run up and be involved in stopping run plays whenever he anticipated one happening. I hope Dillon will continue to have a phenomenal senior year football and he currently has the attention of Florida State University.

#23 [player_tooltip player_id='258701' first='Jadon' last='Ducos'] OLB Sr 5'11 205 lbs

[player_tooltip player_id='258701' first='Jadon' last='Ducos'] is a Hard hitter who makes his presence known on the field. I think Jadon made the majority of the tackles against The Katy tigers Jadon loved fighting in the trenches. Jadon was very effective against the run-heavy Katy offense making sure their running backs did not make it past the starting point. Jadon currently has four college and university offers from Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Louisiana Christian University, McMurray University, and Benedictine College.
