Who did the most on the ground in week three?
Prep Redzone takes a look…
Kam Dougherty – Dougherty
Easily one of the top running back prospects and overall athletes in the state, the Florida State commitment plays quarterback for his Albany-area team, but when you watch him play, it’s easy to see why he’s one of the better runners across the state. The 5-foot-10 200-pound athlete did a little bit of everything during a big win over Stockbridge, rushing 17 times for 235 yards and two touchdowns. As a passer, Dougherty was 12/23 for 267 yards and three touchdowns. He’s a tough, physical runner with impressive burst at 200-pounds. If not wrapped up properly, he’s going to break tackles and take off down the field. Look for him to continue powering his way on the ground for the rest of the season.
Jaylen Poe – North Paulding
I don’t think there’s another running back in Georgia right now doing what Poe is doing. After a big performance in week two, Poe had a career game in a tough loss to a strong Kennesaw Mountain team. Poe was unstoppable in the loss, rushing 27 times for 393 yards on the night, scoring four total touchdowns. He went “beast mode” on Friday night and was looking to score every time he had the ball. He’s a true down-hill runner with goos size, but he also showed breakaway speed. He has great vision, runs with balance, and appears to check every box you look for in an impact back. He had a “video game” type of night and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon. He’s a true under the radar back having an outstanding senior season.
Jaiden Daniels Jaiden Daniels 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Commerce | 2025 State GA – Commerce
An explosive back out of Commerce, the Athens area back showed plenty of speed last weekend as he rushed for 245 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries in a tough loss vs. Commerce. A smaller, quicker back, Daniels is tough to corral for most defenders sue to his burst, change of direction, vision, and top-end speed. If he’s given space to run, he’s always a threat to break off a long run. He has a nose for the end-zone and made defenders look like they were running in slow-motion. Just a sophomore, Daniels is proving to be one of the best backs in his classification and has the tape and production to back it up. He’s one of the top running backs in the Athens area and on his way to a breakout season this fall as a sophomore.
Gavin Hall Gavin Hall 5'10" | 190 lbs | QB Gainesville | 2024 State GA – Hebron Christian
One of the most productive backs across the state so far this year, Hall gave a 5-star performance in a big win over Commerce, rushing 23 for 360 yards and six touchdowns. He’s slippery, showed tremendous balance, impressive footwork, and the natural ability to elude tacklers. He hits the hole hard, he’s dangerous in the open field, and he’s looking to score every time he has the ball. He’s an excellent athlete overall, so when he has the ball, good things happen. He had a game for the ages on Friday night and one he’ll tell his future family about. He ran wild in the mud and had defenders reaching for air all night long. His burst, explosion, and overall productivity makes him a sleeper prospect to know with D1 potential. Speed kills, and Hall has plenty of it.
