The best part about this is we have new names and some fresh faces to keep tabs on as they continue to ball out on the field. Hopefully for these guys this will be a regular thing throughout the season.
WR Jake Brand (2023) – Stratford
11 receptions. 177 receiving yards. 3 touchdowns. That is what Brand did vs Oak Ridge Friday night. He was a different animal from the slot and did his damage after the catch. Brand’s skill and ability in the open field was jaw dropping. He showed break away speed, elusiveness, and strength in finishing the plays. Brand was his quarterbacks favorite target and showed to be a very reliable weapon. Cannot wait to see how he follows up.
WR Cory O’Bryant (2023) – Tomball Memorial
O’Bryant continued his hot start to the season in this last game. O’Bryant has shown that he is a nightmare for defensive backs, especially in single coverage. His speed crossing the field leaves defenders in the dust, and he shows very good ball skills with the ball in the air. O’Bryant put up a very impressive stat line of 7 catches for 244 yards and 4 touchdowns, and added a rushing touchdown for an extra touch. Ridiculous. O’Bryant has just been on fire and I hope this continues for weeks to come.
QB Brad Jackson Brad Jackson 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB San Antonio Reagan | 2024 State TX (2024) – Cypress Creek
Jackson put everybody on notice in the scoring shootout vs Tomball Memorial. He was playing out of his mind and helped will his team to victory. Jackson did everything in his power to win and it worked out in his favor. He was a playmaker who made things happen. Breaking the pocket, Jackson kept his eyes downfield and continuously hit his targets. Jackson went 32 of 51 for 418 and and 5 touchdowns, and ran for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns as well. Jackson just put up a work of art and I know he has more in store for the season.
RB Llyod Avant (2024) – Summer Creek
Avant was living in the endzone vs Clear Falls. He was breaking big runs left and right and his vision was on point. Avant was going untouched through running lanes and showed off his break away speed in the open. Avant ran for an impressive 246 yards and 3 touchdowns on 16 carries. Avant is starting to catch fire heading into game 3.
QB Rechuuk Hines (2023) – Dekaney
Hines put his arm on display in a back and forth game vs Strake Jesuit. He was in sync with his weapons and was decisive on his throws. Hines was getting the ball to his playmakers and let them do their thing. Hines had a major connection with his brother on the night as well, getting the ball to him 8 times and a big chunk of yards. Hines finished his strong night going 21 for 30 for 353 yards and 2 touchdowns.
