As these two teams are top 10 in all of Texas this was one of the best games of the week. However, once the Mustangs got into their groove on offense they couldn’t be stopped no matter how hard the Hurricanes tried. By the end of the 1st half, the score was 30-0 Mustangs and ended with a score of 51-29 leading to a Mustang’s victory. In this article, I will be discussing the standout athletes on Westfield’s offense.
#4 DaJohn Palomo WR Sr
Dajohn Palomo had a great showcase against The Hightower Hurricanes. DaJohn is incredibly fast always getting around his defenders and getting open for receptions. Speaking his speed in the 3rd quarter on kickoff DaJohn got the ball and zoomed down the field for a touchdown. Another one of Dajohn’s standout traits was his fortitude and tenacity to get the ball and reach the endzone. DaJohn is on his way to making a big name for himself in his senior year and will become a top college prospect. DaJohn’s stats this game were three receiving touchdowns and one touchdown from a kickoff return.
#7 PJ Hatter QB Sr 6’2 185 lbs
PJ Hatter hasn’t been at Westfield very long just transferring from Klein Oak this season as a senior. With that being said PJ has grown accustomed to Westfield’s offense and led his team to a decisive victory against The Hightower Hurricanes. PJ distributed the ball properly to his wide receiver and wasn’t afraid to run the ball himself. PJ also has a great build being tall and sturdy. PJ threw for 2 touchdowns and ran in 1 touchdown himself.
#9 Chris Walker DE, RB Sr
Chris Walker is a double threat playing on both the offense and defense sides of the ball. Chris on offense is a fullback and running back. Although, Chris wasn’t a primary runner on offense he was impactful support by blocking and making efficient cut blocks. In the future, I would appreciate a chance to see Chris get more of an opportunity to run the ball and make standout plays.
#21 Taji Atkins RB Jr 5’8 175 lbs
Taji Atkins is a very physical and competent running back. Taji exhibits all the standout traits as a running back speed, power, quickness, and tenacity. Throughout the night Taji was breaking through tackles and fighting for every yard he could get. Taji is a running back that will get the job done and put his team in the best spot possible. I’m looking forward to Taji’s development in his junior and senior years.
#2 Kelbie Thomas-Haymond WR Sr 6’1 155 lbs
Kelbie Thomas-Haymond is another standout wide receiver for The Westfield Mustangs. Kelbie possesses a great amount of speed being a great option for passes. Kelbie might be a little on the small size in weight, but that doesn’t make him any less of a threat. During a pop-up pass play, it took the entire Hightower defense to stop Kelbie and they still weren’t enough to bring him down. Kelbie had a singular touchdown and several yards to end the night.
