Jackson Ogden
Jackson Ogden
One of the most talented athletes in the Lowcountry, Jackson Ogden put on a show with his speed to lead John Paul II to victory over St. Andrew’s. The senior veteran was uncatchable on Friday, racking up an incredible 224 all-purpose yards with six total touchdowns. It was a monster day for a young man with quick feet and a nonstop drive to succeed. A potent threat to take the ball to the end zone any time the ball comes his way, Ogden has the talent to race John Paul II to some key wins in SCISA 3A this year.
Cole Davis
Cole Davis
There’s been nobody up to the task of stopping Colleton Prep this year in SCISA 2A, and a big reason has been the play of quarterback Cole Davis. Moving under center after playing running back last year, Davis has carried the War Hawks to a surprise 3-0 start. He displayed his dual-threat abilities again on Friday, rushing for 174 yards and two scores while completing four of eight passes for two touchdowns. An efficient passer with the accuracy to make the key throws and the dynamic ability to scramble for big yardage, Davis has become the anchor of a War Hawks team exceeding all expectations. This team will go as he goes, and his continued success could lead his team to a memorable state playoff run.
Anthony Fripp
Anthony Fripp
The Rebels’ skill-position group is deep this season, and Anthony Fripp proved his veteran presence in another dominant win on Friday. The senior running back cruised for 103 yards on 10 carries while finding the end zone four times in a shutout victory over Northwood Academy. His high motor and quickness translated to the defensive side as well, adding four tackles and picking off a pass. He’s a tremendous leader with the hustle to step up and make any play needed for head coach Nic Shuford. Expect Fripp to lead a dynamic Heyward backfield and defense as the Rebels eye a fifth consecutive SCISA 1A state championship.
AJ Reyes
AJ Reyes
The Cardinal Newman Cardinals were looking for a spark to notch their first win of the season, and AJ Reyes got it done in a game to remember. The senior back dominated the Trinity Collegiate on Friday, rushing for a whopping 315 yards on 16 carries. Reyes is incredibly agile and can make quick cuts to find open room and jolt past defenders. He’s been nearly impossible to catch on the field with his breakaway speed and already is approaching 500 yards in just two games. Reyes should be the focal point of a Cardinal Newman offense with some exciting potential in 2022.
Brandon King
Brandon King
A senior veteran looking to help Laurence Manning to a breakthrough year, Brandon King took charge to lead the Swampcats to a victory over Wilson Hall. The defensive back led his group with nine tackles on Friday including a stop behind the line of scrimmage. King is an explosive defender who is quick at wrapping up tackles and has the hustle to pursue ball-carriers from any lane on the field. A game-wrecker with his ferociousness and effective tackling skills, King has become an exceptional leader and playmaker for a Swampcat defense that hasn’t allowed more than 20 points in a game so far this season.
