I first saw Faulkner as a sophomore and I immediately thought he was one of the top players in his class in Orange County. Two years later, he and his brother Joshua Faulkner Joshua Faulkner 5'9" | 190 lbs | ATH Western | 2024 State CA are leading Western to a great season and another Orange League championship.
Faulkner answered some questions from Prep Redzone about his commitment to Idaho and other topics about this season.
Q: What did you like about Idaho? Which coach did you communicate with the most during your recruitment? Why did Idaho stand out over the other schools that offered you?
A: Going up there in person was totally different from what I thought it would be like that. Being able to sit in the film room and be around the guys and talking with them made me realize I can see myself being here. I also love the small school and town atmosphere compared to all the big city schools.
Q: Have you taken a visit to Idaho? If so, was it unofficial or official? What did you think of the visit?
A: I took a official visit to Idaho and loved the staff and the small but big community that supports the team.
Q: How did you enjoy your recruiting experience? Did you learn anything?
A: Honestly I’m thankful for even being recruited but I loved every part of my recruiting process, the lows too because they make these type of moments 10 times better.
Q: Will you be playing receiver or defensive back at Idaho?
A: I plan to play Defensive Back I spoke with Coach (Stanley) Franks mostly, but spoke with the offensive staff as well.
Q: You will be the first player from Western to go Division 1 since the Savage brothers a few years ago. What does it mean for you to represent your school at the college level?
A: Cain and Cash (Savage) helped lay the foundation of everything that was going on and it has helped us grind and keep that foundation going. Coach Davidson also pushes our family so hard that it’s easy for us to represent our school at the collegiate level.
Q: How much has Coach Davidson meant to you and your recruiting?
A: Coach Davidson has done so much for me in this recruiting process whether it was getting me to play 7on7 or telling me what camps I should attend. Coach Davidson and my parents have been there for me every step of the way.
Q: What did you learn from playing with the players and coaches at OC Elite? Did that help you a lot?
A: Playing with Coach Kev (Morton) at OC Elite really just put me out there, Coach would always tell me I’m gonna put you on the map and he gave me so many opportunities to see the best of the best competition. Along with some great coaching and speed training to go behind it.
