The game went back and forth all night long going down to the wire with an onside kick that was the deciding factor in the game. St. Ignatius ended up recovering the onside kick and took a knee to close out the game as they held on to beat St. Laurence 19 to 14. Now, let’s dive into the St. Ignatius Standouts.

rnMr. Scott showcased why he’s the #1 player in the class of 24′ here in IL. As they say, big time players make big time plays and that’s exactly what this young man did. In crucial moments late in the 4th quarter he was able to come away with TFLs, sacks, and disrupt plays in the backfield. The impact he brings on the defensive side of the ball is second to none as he was getting double teamed all night long. Also showcased his dominance on the O-Line getting good movement up front and even pancaking defenders downfield when run blocking. Currently holds a handful of P5 Offers. Twitter
Highlights
rnMr. Rugai picked off where he left off last season being known as a hard runner that keeps his feet driving through the whistle. On more than one occasion he didn’t go down upon initial contact and was able to pick up first downs as a result. He also had a good showing on defense coming away with a PBU as well as showcasing his ability to close quickly on the ball carrier. Overall, this young man has potential on both sides of the ball for the next level. Currently holds no offers but does have interest from various levels. Twitter
Mr. Kemp committed to Yale University at the beginning of August and showcased why he’s a top player in IL. He can work one on one in pass coverage by staying on the receiver’s hip pocket and contest the catch on deep shots downfield for pass breakups. Switching over to run support, this young man doesn’t shy away from contact as he can trigger downhill quickly to secure open field tackles in the flat limiting the chance of the ball carrier to turn the corner. Will Siejna
Will Siejna
Mr. Siejna is a new name to me but his aggressiveness when run blocking caught my attention. He is a “smaller” lineman listed at 5’9 210 but don’t let that shy you away from this young man. His ability to work in-line is one to keep an eye on as he can gain leverage on the defensive lineman before either washing them down or drive blocking them back – both of which create a hole for his teammate to hit. Also is on the track and field team. Twitter
Mr. Petrow has some legs to him which was showcased when he kept the option to pick up a 20-yard gain in one play. What I’m most interested to see more of is his arm strength as he showcased flashes of this during Friday night’s game. Here he flashes his ability to add a touch on level three throws on deep shots downfield. Being at the helm of the wolf pack’s offensive unit, look for this young man to make his mark as the season continues to unfold. Twitter
@jakepetrow #10 – has some legs to him, touch on deep ball but overthrew WR,
Albert Connor
Albert Connor
Mr. Conner is another new name to me this fall season and one that had a breakout performance during this game coming away with 2 rushing TDs on the night. The foot quicks he has to not only get through the hole but outrun 2nd level defenders is one to keep an eye on the rest of this season. The Wolf Pack’s running back parasol is going to be a headache for defensive coordinators all season long as Mr. Connor is one of many halfbacks that can make their mark. Currently holds no offers. Henry Helms
Henry Helms
Mr. Helms is an impressive kicker to say the least as he not only nailed a 39 yard field goal but also had almost every single kickoff result in a touchback. This young man also gets it done in the classroom having a 34 ACT score with a 4.0 GPA. If you’re looking for a kicker that’s going to get it done on and off the field for your team, take a look at this young man. Twitter
Mr. Bloss is an agile runner that has lateral quickness to turn the corner. He almost came away with a big completion on a deep shot downfield after he gained a step on the defender to win over the top but ended up falling incomplete. This is an area to keep an eye on the rest of the season as he has the ability to win over the top in the air attack. Currently holds no offers but does hold interest from a handful of schools. Jacob Lawler
Jacob Lawler
Mr. Lawler made his impact in the secondary making plays in pass coverage Friday night. To close out the half, he went up for a 50/50 ball and high pointed the ball to come down with the interception. Later in the game, he did the same thing but this time resulted in a pass breakup. All of this happens as he transitions well from a backpedal into turning to run with the receiver on deep shots downfield. Keep an eye on how he’s able to produce the rest of this fall season.
