I would say the last few years it’s been a little more even, with Oregon getting some big wins over Washington teams. Have a look at the Northwest Top 25 with all classifications included.
.Yelm WA (3-0) The Tornados have outscored some legit competition (Camas, Union) the first three weeks of the season 148-20, with 4* recruit Brayden Platt Brayden Platt 6'1" | 240 lbs | LB Yelm | 2024 State WA and his guys looking like the real deal.
.Lake Stevens WA (2-1) The Lake Stevens’ lineup speaks for itself but the 26-16 loss to Garfield still exists. They will face potential Oregon state champion West Linn this coming week.
.Sheldon OR (3-0) The Irish went to West Linn and won 35-31 so they should be considered Oregon’s top ranked team as of right now. They are one of the state’s most successful programs covering the last few decades.
.West Linn OR (2-1) The Lions dropped a close one to Sheldon, but have championship potential with a host of young guys on the roster. The 31-20 win over Jesuit last week wasn’t that close.
.O’Dea WA (3-0) Per usual the fighting Irish are solid everywhere, but the question remains, who can stop 4* Jason Brown Jason Brown 5'10" | 205 lbs | ATH ODea | 2024 State WA . Bothell came close to start the season but couldn’t stop Brown.
.Glacier Peak WA (3-0) Pac 12 commits Trey Leckner Trey Leckner 6'2" | 215 lbs | ATH Glacier Peak | 2023 State WA and Cooper Jensen Cooper Jensen 6'5" | 210 lbs | TE Glacier Peak | 2023 State WA will be tough for anyone to stop. We will find out a lot this coming week when they play Rocklin HS (3-1) out of Cali.
.Eastside Catholic WA (3-0) EC always has some of the top ranked players in the region, but it’s still a wait see if we are talking about comparisons to previous teams. We will find out shortly with O’Dea, Garfield, and Rainier Beach remaining on the schedule.
.Jesuit OR (2-1) The Crusaders beat a good Skyview WA team 24-21 before losing last week at home to West Linn. They feature one of the top lines in the region so they will have a shot come playoffs.
.Tualatin OR (3-0) The T Wolves have a handful of D1 kids on their roster and some of the top young talent in the state. They look comparable to last year’s team who advanced to the title game.
.Central Catholic OR (2-1) It would not surprise me to see CC ranked towards the top of this list at the end of the year. The reigning Oregon 6A state champs beat Bellevue in WA 24-23.
.Bellevue WA (1-2) As noted the Wolverines came up short against Central Catholic and Lake Stevens, but Ishaan Daniels Ishaan Daniels 5'11" | 160 lbs | ATH Bellevue | 2023 State WA and the program know how to win, so we will see.
.Garfield WA (3-0) It would be hard to start the season off any better as the Bulldogs beat Lake Stevens 26-16. They have a bunch of young talent to boot.
.Lincoln WA (3-0) Multiple D1 kids, and quality wins against Camas and Skyline, help to highlight one of Washington’s best programs.
.Skyview WA (2-1) The Storm left no doubt with an impressive 28-10 road win against Bothell this past week. Their only loss came via Oregon #3 Jesuit 24-21.
.Kennewick WA (3-0) Always a dangerous program. Still question marks. QB Andre Breedlove can play.
.Gonzaga Prep WA (2-1) GP got blasted by St Johns 42-14 in Washington DC a few weeks back, but they are ranked among the top teams in the nation. The Bullpups could make a playoff run.
.Summit OR (2-1) Summit will probably win Oregon’s 5A state championship by 30+ points, returning 18 starters and making last year’s 6A quarterfinals. It’s a fun team to watch.
.Puyallup WA (3-0) A one point victory over Emerald Ridge and a definitive win over Graham Kapowsin, puts even more emphasis on this week’s game at home versus Sumner.
.Emerald Ridge WA (2-1) Junior QB Jake Schakel Jake Schakel 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Emerald Ridge | 2024 State WA will be a double digit D1 offer athlete and he has guys all around him. One of the fastest rising teams in WA.
.Sumner WA (2-1) The Spartans always have dudes. Even with the 28-18 loss to Emerald Ridge last week, you can expect them to be in the mix come playoff time.
.Lakes WA (2-0) Leo Pulalasi Leo Pulalasi 6'1" | 205 lbs | ATH Lakes | 2023 State WA and Ki’Marree Washington Ki’Marree Washington 5'8" | 180 lbs | RB Lakes | 2023 State WA are maybe the best pair of backs in WA. They alone can keep you in ball games, separate from the other talent on the roster.
.Clackamas OR (2-1) The Cavs have consistently been one of Oregon’s top teams over the last few years, while winning a 6A state title. We will see how much impact the new Nelson HS has.
.Kennedy Catholic WA (2-1) Traditionally the Lancers produce some of the state’s top talent. They are most likely not a title team but still one of WA’s best.
.Sherwood OR (2-1) The Bowmen are coming off a big 47-35 win at Lakeridge, as it’s one of the best football communities in Oregon. The new University of Sherwood stadium is impressive as well.
.Lynden WA (3-0) A traditional 2A power. Washington’s 2A classification has produced some of the state’s top teams over the years. Tumwater etc..
