Jamarrius was unstoppable in Chaska’s 28-7 week 3 victory over Benilde-St. Margaret’s. He was effective through the air, but dominated on the ground. The QB ran for 131 yards, scoring all four of his teams touchdowns himself rushing. He also added 99 passing yards, completing 5 of his 7 attempts. Overall, Courtney had an incredibly efficient outing and will look to stay hot in their Friday night conference duel with Waconia. Chaska is 3-0 to start the season and look like real contenders in class 5A with Jamarrius behind center.
Highlights
Grady Guida
Grady Guida
Grady turned in a solid performance in Buffalo’s tight win over Delano on Friday night. The junior quarterback completed 28 passes, tallying 293 yards and a passing score. Also, he added 28 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns on the ground. Guida looked very comfortable in the pocket, as well as rolling out and throwing on the run. The Bison have won two out of their three matchups to start the season and will host a tough Elk River squad on Friday.
Landyn continued his impressive senior year in the Friday win over Rogers. He threw for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 14 of his 18 passing attempts. In addition to that, he tallied 54 yards and a score on the ground. The Huskies have been one of the best offenses so far this season as they are currently averaging 44 points scored per game. Nelson and Andover will go on the road to take on St. Francis in week 4.
Corey Bohmert
Corey Bohmert
Corey has had an incredible start to his senior season. He totaled his third game over 190 rushing yards in the Saturday win over Hill-Murray. He ran all over the Pioneers, racking up 231 yards on the ground, finding the end zone three different times. He also added a 21 yard reception in the blowout victory. Bohmert is currently top three in total rushing yards so far this season and is so hard to matchup with defensively. The combination of his wonderful vision and electric speed is very dangerous. Mahtomedi is off to a great start to the season with a 3-0 record.
I was in attendance for Chanhassen’s week 3 win over Spring Lake Park and Maxwell was giving the Panthers problems all night. He was very efficient rushing the ball, carrying the ball 17 times on his way to 137 yards for an average of 8.1 yards per carry. It seemed as if he was making defenders miss every time he touched the ball, especially on both of his touchdown runs in the first half. Woods has proven himself as one of the top backs in the state and has led the Storm to an undefeated record through their first three games.
Highlights
Ralph had a breakout game in the blowout win over Tartan. The senior running back racked up 142 yards on the ground, finding the endzone in the third quarter. He is so good at making defenders miss in space and has that elite breakaway speed that makes him so dangerous. Irondale is off to a solid 2-1 start and they will take on Spring Lake Park on Friday at home. Naimah has been a star for the Knights so far this season and looks to keep it going in week 4.
Carter has been one of the top receiving options in the state so far this season. This Friday, he totaled his third straight performance with 130+ yards in the win over Century. He caught the ball 10 times, tallying 168 yards and scoring 3 touchdowns through the air. Holcomb is currently leading the state in receiving touchdowns with 7. Rochester Mayo is 3-0 through their first three games as they look like they could make some noise later in the season, Carter is a major reason why.
Highlights
Andrew could not be contained in the Friday night win over Alexandria. The WR/TE was responsible for 204 yards receiving, catching 9 passes and finding the endzone once. He has such a unique combination of speed, hands, and size at 6’5”, 200 lbs. Sauk Rapids-Rice is hot so far this year, winning their first three games of the young season. They will look to continue the same in a Friday night matchup with Cambridge-Isanti. The senior currently holds offers from Army and South Dakota State.
Johnny was making big plays in Hastings’ matchup with Simley on Saturday. He totaled 120 yards receiving on only 4 catches, averaging 30 yards per catch. One of those receptions was a 69-yard touchdown in the third quarter where he caught a ball across the middle and took it all the way for a score. He was unstoppable in jump ball opportunities, using his size, jumping ability, and ball tracking to come down with some tough catches in traffic. The Raiders will look to bounce back with a Friday night showdown with undefeated St. Thomas Academy.
