GAME RECAP: Buford Runs Through North Cobb 21-14

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In the biggest game across the state of Georgia, with D1 talent all over the field, it was powerhouse Buford who held off a tough North Cobb team in the pouring rain, 21-14.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both teams have a future D1 quarterback leading the offense, but it was the [player_tooltip player_id='34011' first='Justice' last='Haynes'] show in Buford on Friday night. The Alabama commit and one of the top overall running back prospects across the country rushed for two touchdowns in the first half, giving Buford a 14-0 lead at halftime. Even in the rain, he ran hard, showed plenty of speed, and the ability to score any time he has the ball. He scored his third touchdown late in the 4th quarter to give Buford the lead for goos.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Unfortunately, the rain had a giant impact on the game. The first half was particular sloppy with both teams turning the ball over multiple times. Neither team could get a passing attack going with the ball slipping through the hands of multiple receivers. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The rain let up in the 2nd half, and North Cobb just wouldn't go away. The Wolves had a couple of opportunities to put the game away, but a TD pass from Singleton to senior RB [player_tooltip player_id='34019' first='David' last='Mbadinga'] turned the game around and put the Warriors on the board. Singleton added a touchdown run of his own late in the game to tie the score, but Buford's rushing attack was just too much down the stretch.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Other news and notes...</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It was a great day to be a defender and we saw multiple big plays on a slippery ball. North Cobb safety Caleb Jenkins had a nice game and picked off a pass late in the 1st half that bounced off the arm of a Buford receiver.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Buford had plenty of defenders who came ready to play. The massive 6-foot-4 280-pounder opened up running lanes all night long and showed why he's one of the top senior tackle prospects in the state.
