Four Schools Chasing After 6A-Region 6 Title

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As we have officially moved past the midpoint of the 2022 season, region titles are beginning to come into play, especially as we head down the final stretch with multiple in-region matchups ahead.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One region of note is Class 6A-Region 6, which sports four teams at the top all chasing after that title with those four teams competing against each other over the next few weeks, so we have some pressure packed games upcoming!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Starting next Friday, we start to find out where this region lines up as all four play each other with Cane Ridge traveling to Smyrna and the Overton Bobcats hosting McGavock. These two games will start to dictate who takes leadership in this region and inches themselves closer to becoming region champs.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>All of this is possible after all four teams picked up wins on Friday night during Week Six. Two teams in particular had huge victories as Cane Ridge defeated D2-Class AA power CPA, 31-28 while Smyrna went on the road and took down a talented Riverdale team, 15-5.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Ravens had to come from behind to beat CPA but it continues to show the resolve that the 2022 Cane Ridge football team has and how formidable they are for any opponent they come across. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":279264,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/01/bdavisjr.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-279264"/></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This Middle Tennessee program has a well balanced team with a senior quarterback in <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='182734' first='Shivan' last='Abdullah'] </strong>running the show and an ultra talented defense with future college prospects in <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='267061' first='Mose' last='Phillips III']</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='102212' first='Byron' last='Davis'] </strong>and sleeper senior outside back <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='410569' first='Jaylon' last='Johnson'] </strong>causing problems for opposing offenses.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Smyrna continues to surprise the masses as they remain undefeated at 5-0 after Friday night's huge road win over Riverdale. This was the Bulldogs toughest test yet and they rose to the occasion by shutting down a talented Warriors offense and withstanding the pressure to win all the way to the final whistle.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bulldogs are led by one of the hottest recruits in the state in <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='102193' first='Arion' last='Carter']</strong>. The 6'1 two-way talent has been a scoring machine on offense this year while flexing his muscles and athleticism at linebacker, which has landed him multiple Power Five offers.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both Cane Ridge and Smyrna appear to have the leg up on the region title right now but Overton and McGavock will certainly have something to say about that!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Overton has only one loss on the season and it was to a good Centennial team in the first game of the year. Ever since then, the Bobcats have been dominating opponents, especially their defense that shut out three teams in a row.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Friday evening in Clarksville, Overton defeated Northwest, 46-13 to move their record to 4-1 and did so with a balanced effort from both sides of the ball. While the defense has been lights out, the Bobcats offense has been steady too, led by seniors <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='234958' first='Ryder' last='Hagan']</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='234963' first='Jevon' last='Edmondson'] </strong>and others averaging close to 40 points a game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":455298,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/09/rhagan.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-455298"/></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Overton will need to bring it next week as they take on an athletic McGavock offense that will be thirsting to get after that Bobcats defense and they have the skill to take over.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Raiders are working on their best season in some time as they sit at 5-1 after a home 35-14 win over Franklin and producing another 30 point plus game in the process. McGavock has taken care of business in games they were supposed to win this year but I'm sure they would like to erase that one loss to Cane Ridge and avenge it on the road against Overton.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>They certainly have the juice on offense to get the job done with 4-star Power Five prospect <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='151256' first='Demitrius' last='Bell'] </strong>catching passes from quarterback <strong>Josh Martin </strong>and their defense playing opportunistically with guys like <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='268148' first='Markellus' last='Bass'] </strong>blanketing receivers.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It should be a very interesting matchup between the Bobcats and Raiders as both teams look about even and whoever wins, will certainly keep themselves in the race for a region title.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Between Cane Ridge, Smyrna, McGavock and Overton, you have four playoff caliber teams all chasing after the same goal in a region title but all four schools can cause some damage in the playoffs once we arrive at postseason play and possibly find themselves competing for a 6A title.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Before we start to talk about playoffs, the Region 6 title is up for grabs and one of these four teams will walk away as champs but as things sit heading into Week Seven, it's still anybody's game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":455304,"width":375,"height":375,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/09/dbell.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-455304" width="375" height="375"/></figure> <!-- /wp:image -->
