The fall is in full swing and the competition is at an all-time high all around the state.
Yesterday I stopped in to scout the Plano West versus Coppell JV1 game and I was thoroughly impressed with the talent I saw.
Coppell was able to pull out the decisive victory but both squads have a stable of talent to build off of for the future.
SUPERLATIVES
Andrew Gross – Coppell – Class of 2025
Andrew was one of the most impressive and technically sound offensive linemen on the field and his performance helped Coppell set the tone on the ground early. The 6’3 250 pounder put his defender on skates most of the night and was dominant in pass pro. What stood out to me the most was how he was able to consistently drive his defender off the ball to create a rush lane. Attached below is an early example of Coppell running off of the tackle and him leaving his defender on his back.
Jordan Stafford – Coppell High – Class of 2025
Jordan is an impressive interior offensive line prospect that caught my eye the past two weeks with his keen ability to pull and plow through defenders to create running lanes. He had a very physical and impressive showing on the day and has noticeably gotten better week by week. He did a good job using his hands and impressed me with his ability to redirect and get himself back into a winning posture.
Anthony Calhoun -Plano West – Class of 2024
Anthony had a huge day and was one of the most impressive players on the offensive side of the football. He is a long receiver that was a willing and able blocker that ran smooth routes and got in and out of his breaks efficiently. Despite his team being on the losing end of the scoreboard he played hard throughout the game and hauled in many deep balls and impressive catches.
Ayran Fardi – Plano West – Class of 2025
Ayran was an impressive interior offensive line prospect that caught my eye and did a great job controlling his base, feet, hips and hands. He was patient in pass protection and did a good job helping to reestablish the line of scrimmage in the run game. From my evaluation I project him as a pure center at the college but he had a big day and helped raise his stock with his performance.
