Who had some of the best performances across Georgia?
Prep Redzone takes a look…
Peyton Zachary Peyton Zachary 5'8" | 160 lbs | WR Kell | 2026 State GA – Kell
He might be just a freshman right now, but everyone is going to know this young man’s name sooner than later. At just 5-foot-7 145-pounds, Zachary is a smooth runner who plays a lot bigger than his size. He came down with a big leaping touchdown grab over a bigger defender, showing his impressive vertical jump and ball skills. He’s quick, explosive, and shows big-play ability, leading Kell to a big season-opening win vs Cherokee Bluff. Zachary had plenty of hype going into his freshman season and looked the part in his very first high school game, catching 7 passes for 109 yards and one touchdown. Look for him to have a gigantic freshman season this fall.
Cole Weaver – Blessed Trinity
One of the top under-the-radar receivers in metro-Atlanta, Weaver got his senior season off with a bang after torching a very good Calhoun team in a big 36-25 victory. He only had 4 receptions, but the former 1st Team All Region selection and 6-foot-5 195-pounder took them for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the win. He’s a big target, but he also knows how to get open consistently in 1-on-1 coverage. He showed excellent ball skills as the plucked the ball out of the air while getting yards after the catch. Weaver can run different routes and can beat defensive backs with his size, speed, and overall route-running. He has good burst getting up the field and can take off when given any type of space. He’s a big weapon for the Blessed Trinity offense and he should see a lot more passes coming his way this season.
Cameran Loyd – Walton
It may have come in a losing effort, but Cameran Lloyd was outstanding for the Walton Raiders who lost a heart-breaker to Mill Creek. Walton’s passing game was electric, and a big reason was because of Lloyd, who showed impressive burst and explosiveness all game. Catching six passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns, Lloyd was a big-play waiting to happen. He found a way to get downfield a behind the Mill Creek defense, and thanks to Jeremy Hecklincki’s big arm, Lloyd was able to have a monster game catching the ball. He’s a excellent route-runner which helped him get behind the secondary, but his speed and consistent hands down the field made him fun to watch in the season opener. Look for Hecklinski and Lloyd to have a big season together through the air.
Devon Green – Lithia Springs
An athletic receiver out of Lithia Springs, Green had one of the better season-openers across the state over the weekend. A good athlete who also plays basketball, Green was an excellent option all game long and showed consistent hands and the ability to get yards after the catch. He has a nice frame and showed some wiggle when he had the ball. He was excellent on underneath routes and had opportunities to catch the ball and get upfield. He also scored on a nice stop and go that got him behind the defense for an impressive touchdown. For the game, Green caught 12 passes for 157 yards and one touchdown.
