In this article we are going to take a look at some of those position rankings changes as we go position by position and look at our highest debuting athlete for the nine positions. We will take a look at where they debut, and how they earned their spot. Let’s get into it!
The 2023 QB Class here in WI is one of the best. It is also one of the more covered groups making it hared to find a new one not included in the rankings. However, we have on where in Sheboygan North signal caller Max Tutas. The 6’3″ 185 lbs QB brings a dual threat to the field that requires defenses to focus on containment and coverage. He has so much athleticism that he also does some return work for Sheboygan North. That athleticism should entice programs at the next level to bring him in for his position versatility. QB is not the only role that he could fill. D3s should take a look.
Highlights
The top newcomer at the RB position is the big, power back out of Pulaski HS. Maverick checks in at 6’1″ and a well put together 230 lbs. Defenders have to make business decisions when squaring up with him in the running lane. Maverick’s contact balance and power are a game breaking combination. He can easily run through arm tackles, and simply lowering the shoulder on him only results in the defender bouncing off to the ground. The tone setting back has already made his decision and committed to the Mavericks of MNSU- Mankato.
Good luck putting together a defensive backfield that can stop the Arrowhead receiving corp this fall. Andrew joins his teammate in the Top 3 at the position here in WI. Andrew is a game breaker out wide. He has a very complete game. The speed to eat up cushions, take the top off the defense, and stretch the field is there. He is a razor sharp route runner who creates separation that gives his QB an easy target, and he has the hands to reel in everything within his catch radius. Once he gets the ball in his hands he is a nightmare to contain. I expect to see him get a lot of attention form the next level this fall from defenses and the next level of competition.
Our newest TE in the rankings comes in at #2 at the position, and he will be headed west next fall after committing to the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State. The 6’6” 215 lbs target has a huge catch radius, and the quick twitch to be able to quickly adjust to passes. His athleticism for his size is unmatched, leading to his earning of a Top 2 spot. Stoffel is going to provide his QB, this season and going forward, a huge target downfield. He is going to be a mismatch nightmare for defenses as they try to lock him up with LBs and safeties. Expect a big year for the Mosinee TE.
A potential sleeper in the Class of 2023 is the big man out of McFarland HS. Keats has great size at 6’6″ 270 lbs, and he has impressive upper body strength allowing him to control and steer defenders in the trenches. The big man is also light on his feet, and that allows him to get himself in position to gain the leverage advantage. This fall I’ll be watching his lower body strength to see how it has developed over the offseason. If he has shown growth there then there’s a good chance he makes the biggest risers list this winter.
People are going to learn who Cannon is this fall. The 6’2″ 265 lbs DL debuts at# 8 with the potential to only go up fro there. The big man is a nationals qualifying weight lifter, and the strength and quick twitch burst translates to the field. Watching him fly out of his stance is eye opening. The State Champ has made a habit of collapsing the pocket from the middle of the DL creating a ton of havoc in the backfield. His ability to get skinny to slide past blocks also stands out as well as his speed in the open field. This kid is going to breakout as he anchors the DL of the team that had the best defense in 2021. Monster year coming.
Debuting at DB7 is the DB out of Milwaukee. It is easy to become a fan of the 5’11” 165 lbs DB. He has great speed running 4.49 in the 40. Speed that allows him to turn and run with receivers or cover large areas in zone coverage. Speed that makes him dangerous on offense and special teams as well. DeMarco closes quickly and is a surprisingly hard hitting tackler out in space. I’m looking for him to really break out this fall.
The LB group is a loaded one. producing 8 in the Top 35 proves that. Coming in at LB8 is the Kimberly product. The 6’2″ 197 lbs LB will be headed to St. Thomas next fall to play D1 football. The OLB flies off the edge with 4.65 speed and chases down plays in the backfield. The big man looks equally as comfortable out is space covering the pass as he does playing against the run. He easily drops and slides in his zone, and he shows good awareness allowing him to make plays on the ball. The rangy playmaker is going to have a big year, and an enticing pass defending LB at the next level. Something that is highly coveted in today’s college game.

The 6’2″ 200 lbs ATH will have his break out party this fall after only playing 36 snaps in 2021 due to injury. Despite the injury, Daniel debuts inside the Top 100 because of that small segment of film, and because of his strong camp season that got him offers afterwards. The athleticism is there. The size is there. As soon as he gets more tape put out this fall I think we will see his recruitment really take off. Make sure you have this name highlighted fro this fall, coaches. He is going to be must watch for D2s and potentially higher.
