1. Gretna Dragons, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: #2)

Next Game: Omaha Central (1-0)

Came out firing in their season opener to the tune of a 44-0 victory over Burke.

[player_tooltip player_id='217055' first='Zane' last='Flores'] to [player_tooltip player_id='227033' first='Joe' last='Roll'] connection is just different.

They looked as good as they did towards the end of last year. Saw a stat that they have only allowed 10 points in their last 4 games.

2. Bellevue West Thunderbirds, 2-0 (Preseason Ranking: #4)

Next Game: Omaha Burke (0-1)

Two consecutive victories against top 5 teams gives them the bump over Westside.

Defense has been playing very well. The safety duo of [player_tooltip player_id='330252' first='Donnovan' last='Whitfield'] and [player_tooltip player_id='250686' first='Asher' last='Jenkins'] has been scary good.

"Big-time players making big-time plays" - all their receivers have been as good as advertised and have been clutch during crunch time.

[player_tooltip player_id='226966' first='J'Dyn' last='Bullion'] might rocket into LB1 by the next rankings update at this rate.

3. Omaha Westside Warriors, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: #1)

Next Game: @ Grand Island (1-0)

The top 3 teams can really be a 1a, 1b, and 1c as they have all started the season strong.

The Warriors were explosive in their season opener and jumped to an early lead.

[player_tooltip player_id='250051' first='Anthony' last='Rezac'] to [player_tooltip player_id='227036' first='Jaylen' last='Lloyd'] is going to be so much fun to watch this year.

Lots to like about all the transfer players and how well they seemed to fit.

4. Elkhorn South Storm, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: #5)

Next Game: #5 Millard South (1-0)

WOW! That offense looked dangerous.

2024 QB [player_tooltip player_id='340487' first='Carson' last='Rauner'] looked calm, confident, and poised all day and really put his arm on display. I knew the run game was going to be great but Rauner's passing ability could put the offense on a different level.

The DL is what I thought it would be. Quick, strong, violent, and an endless motor.

[player_tooltip player_id='416961' first='Jackson' last='Moeller Swan'] casually broke the school receiving record with 188 yards in the season opener. Could be a breakout player.

5. Millard South Patriots 1- 0 (Preseason Ranking: #8)

Next Game: @ #4 Elkhorn South (1-0)

Very solid showing against Q street rival Millard West with a 38-14 win.

Brock and Gavin are going to be big for the Patriots as two-way players.

[player_tooltip player_id='217062' first='Lance' last='Rucker'] is an all-around monster.

They have nice depth with young, talented players in the 2024 and 2025 classes.

6. Omaha North Vikings, 0-1 (Preseason Ranking: #6)

Next Game: @ Millard West (0-1)

I predict a lot of soreness for opposing teams the day after playing North. These guys can flat-out hit and have lots of size across the board.

[player_tooltip player_id='227549' first='Te'Shaun' last='Porter'] started the season with a monster 200+ yard game.

They were a two-point conversion away from tieing it up with Bellevue West and possibly forcing overtime. Showed many flashes of being a top 5 team.

Upcoming game against Millard West who will also be looking to "Get Right" in Week 2.

7. Papillion-La Vista South Titans 2-0 (Preseason Ranking: NR)

Next Game: Papillion - La Vista (0-1)

Watch out for RB [player_tooltip player_id='225758' first='Devyn' last='Jones']. 333 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns.

The offense is scoring consistently with 35 points in each of their first two games.

Linebackers have been balling. [player_tooltip player_id='305156' first='Trace' last='Marco'] has been all over the field for the Titans.

Big cross-town rivalry coming up for Papio South.

8. Lincoln Southeast Knights, 0-1 (Preseason Ranking: #7)

Next Game: @ Lincoln East (0-1)

Despite the loss to Elkhorn South, I still saw a lot of good things from the Knights.

[player_tooltip player_id='250289' first='Owen' last='Baxter'] looked good running the offense, throwing for 267 yards on 72% completion, 3 touchdowns, and added 52 yards on the ground.

10 different players made catches with 4 receivers over 40 yards and 3 receivers caught touchdowns.

Need to shore up the secondary, 188 yards to an Elkhorn South receiver with 4-star [player_tooltip player_id='180280' first='Malachi' last='Coleman'] coming up next week.

9. Creighton Prep Jr. Jays, 0-2 (Preseason Ranking: #3)

Next Game: @ #10 Millard North (1-0)

The Jays were dealt some tough cards to start the season and unfortunately, it has led to an 0-2 start.

Despite the losses, Prep has shown a lot of fight in both games and made rallies late to get back within closing distance.

Still one of the top rosters in the metro.

10. Millard North Mustangs, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: NR)

Next Game: #9 Creighton (0-2)

For me, the #10 spot was a toss-up, but looking at the Mustang's OT win over a quality opponent is hard to overlook.

Lots to like about this young team. Very hungry and very smart players with lots of athleticism at every position.

2024 & 2025 classes look legit.

Upcoming game against Creighton Prep should show let us know more about Millard North.
