As we look forward to the start of the Fall football season, which is one week away from cranking up, it's time to update our Prep Redzone Tennessee senior prospect rankings and we have several changes to talk about.

The top three in-state prospects did not change as [player_tooltip player_id='102249' first='Caleb' last='Herring'], [player_tooltip player_id='102275' first='Ty' last='Lockwood'] and [player_tooltip player_id='102315' first='Brycen' last='Sanders'] still lead the way but after is when things begin to change.

We have a new #1 receiver for the 2023 in-state class and it's [player_tooltip player_id='151256' first='Demitrius' last='Bell'] from McGavock who busted on the scene this offseason, displaying tremendous athleticism and speed and the wow factor that many college coaches like working with. Bell is currently committed to Michigan St. but is receiving increased attention from Alabama and several other Power Five schools.

We also have a new quarterback sitting in the #1 position as Lausanne's [player_tooltip player_id='102233' first='Brock' last='Glenn'] took over the top spot after putting together a strong offseason that is now leading him to play his college ball at Ohio State.

Glenn took over the top spot from Ravenwood senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='60841' first='Chris' last='Parson'], who slides down to #2 and will soon make his college decision after decommitting from Florida St. last month.

Another big move up the rankings was CPA's wideout [player_tooltip player_id='207352' first='London' last='Humphreys']. The 6'3 speedster blew up this offseason as a legit Power Five prospect, showing off his speed and ability to take the top off. Those talents led to multiple big time offers until Humphreys eventually committed to Vanderbilt. He is now considered the 18th best prospect in the state and the sixth best receiver overall.

After doing some in-depth scouting over the past few months, Knox. Catholic's D-lineman [player_tooltip player_id='102223' first='Trevor' last='Duncan'] is a big time prospect with his best football days ahead of him. Moving up the rankings to the 21st overall player in the state, Duncan a current Tennessee commit, was a two-way talent until this offseason where he established himself as a defensive prospect and someone with the size and smarts to compete in the SEC

A future SEC player, [player_tooltip player_id='185565' first='Jr' last='Sherrill'] from Lipscomb Academy made a big move up the rankings, placing 23rd overall and officially being placed as a wide receiver after being labeled an athlete all offseason.

Sherrill, who is committed to Vanderbilt, is an athletic, big play wideout that has the speed and skill set to compete at a high level in the SEC. He is a big time competitor that will be given the chance to be the #1 receiver for the Mustangs this season and could rise even higher in our next updated rankings.

One of the top prospects from the West Tennessee region is Briarcrest Christian athlete [player_tooltip player_id='102192' first='Max' last='Carroll'] and his offseason was huge as he not only established himself as a Power Five recruit but also someone that could see his stock increase with a big senior season.

Coming in ranked 28th overall, Carroll is a two-way athlete with size, arm length and deceptive speed that can be utilized well on the next level. The Saints senior product will be making his commitment soon between finalists Michigan, TCU, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and Alabama St.

Brief Rankings Notes

- The deepest position group for our in-state ‘23 recruiting class are the wide receivers and you can go twenty deep in this position and find yourself D1 prospects. Several non-committed guys to watch for includes [player_tooltip player_id='150474' first='Jacob' last='Page'] (Ranked 11th/Blackman), [player_tooltip player_id='102307' first='Adarius' last='Redmond'] (Ranked 12th/Powell), [player_tooltip player_id='102226' first='Chance' last='Fitzgerald'] (Ranked 40th/Nolensville), [player_tooltip player_id='277664' first='Donovan' last='Smith'] (Ranked 51st/Chatt. Central), [player_tooltip player_id='201101' first='Jamari' last='Person'] (Ranked 52nd/Haywood), [player_tooltip player_id='153948' first='Bryson' last='Vowell'] (Ranked 58th/Anderson Co.), [player_tooltip player_id='150317' first='Marcellus' last='Jackson'] (Ranked 59th/Fulton), [player_tooltip player_id='102260' first='Devin' last='Johnson II'] (Ranked 63rd/Briarcrest Chrst.), [player_tooltip player_id='102209' first='Adjatay' last='Dabbs'] (Ranked 83rd/Greeneville), [player_tooltip player_id='297330' first='Anthony' last='Crowell'] (Ranked 87th/Lebanon), [player_tooltip player_id='273498' first='Delanie' last='Majors'] (Ranked 88th/Overton), [player_tooltip player_id='197134' first='Kaleb' last='Carver'] (Ranked 90th/Green Hill) and [player_tooltip player_id='328654' first='David' last='Cole'] (Ranked 96th overall) from East Hamilton.

- Ensworth's wideout [player_tooltip player_id='102301' first='Shamar' last='Porter'] moved from the top spot to #2 with Bell taking over but this guy is still big time and should develop into a possible elite guy in his time at Kentucky. With the move of Page to Blackman, look for Porter to step forward and have a big senior season as the go-to guy for his Ensworth quarterbacks.

- Throughout this entire process, the offensive line has been a featured position of recruiting here in Tennessee and looking through our new rankings, it remains that way as [player_tooltip player_id='118718' first='Cal' last='Grubbs'] from Maryville is ranked as the 7th best O-lineman in this class but sits at 27th overall. That tells you how deep this position is and we still have several top prospects available.

Several top guys are committed but others remain and those guys include [player_tooltip player_id='102175' first='Tyler' last='Bell'] (Ranked 35th/Lausanne), [player_tooltip player_id='305266' first='Elijah' last='Prather'] (Ranked 60th/LaVergne), [player_tooltip player_id='102277' first='Barrett' last='Maddox'] (Ranked 66th/Clinton), [player_tooltip player_id='102352' first='Joshua' last='Wade'] (Ranked 68th/Knox. Webb), [player_tooltip player_id='225975' first='Aidan' last='Donald'] (Ranked 72nd/Lebanon), [player_tooltip player_id='317187' first='Ty' last='Williams'] (Ranked 78th/Greeneville), [player_tooltip player_id='337258' first='Martez' last='Curry'] (Ranked 81st/Freedom Prep) and [player_tooltip player_id='102331' first='Misan' last='Sisk'] from MASE, who is ranked 100th overall.

- We have a new guy sitting at the top of defensive backs in Overton's [player_tooltip player_id='225988' first='Tyson' last='Edwards'], who takes over the #1 spot from Syncere Safeeullah (Transferred to IMG Academy). The Bobcats senior defender had a breakthrough offseason where he performed at a high level that ended up landing him at Memphis. Edwards is a tall, long and versatile guy that could develop at cornerback or safety during his college time with the Tigers. It would not be surprising to see Edwards jump up in our next updated rankings and place himself among the Top 30 prospects overall in this state.

- One position group that looks much deeper this time around with the rankings is the Defensive Line. The big men in the trenches had a strong offseason where several guys stood out and developed at a nice rate. Father Ryan big man [player_tooltip player_id='102191' first='Drake' last='Carlson'] leads the way as the top guy from the D-line but several others behind him are quite talented as well.

A few guys to mention here who broke through this offseason and moved up in our rankings include Jaden McKinley (36th overall), Nolensville [player_tooltip player_id='150365' first='Taylor' last='Wein'] (Ranked 77th overall), who officially moved to the D-line from linebacker, [player_tooltip player_id='226009' first='Eriq' last='George'] (Ranked 86th/MBA), [player_tooltip player_id='102281' first='Jayden' last='Marable'] from Smyrna (Ranked 106th/Committed to Memphis), [player_tooltip player_id='150351' first='Jabari' last='Simmons'] (Ranked 115th/Brentwood Acad.), [player_tooltip player_id='242086' first='Tanner' last='Schuck'] (Ranked 120th/Ravenwood) and [player_tooltip player_id='201095' first='Chris' last='Hunter'] (Ranked 130th overall) from Karns, who is a prospect to watch going forward.
