Sioux Falls Christian
Let’s jump right in with the deep talent pool and how Christian will utilize its stars to help them get the season started on a great note and help them secure their first W under the belt. SFC offense primary runs through their two offensive stars at quarterback and wide receiver that being, Carter Van Donge Carter Van Donge 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Sioux Falls Christian | 2023 State and Tate Snyder. These two offensive pieces form a key unit when it comes to the offensive attack of SFC, Snyder can maneuver his way around the field and more often than not link up with Donge, who is most times open downfield. Setting up the connection and getting these two producing early will be a critical part to establish a passing game with these two being a dynamic duo to help their offense. Outside of Donge, Snyder will have some other key weapons returning this season to make his life as a quarterback great in his TE, Tate Van Horssen, and wide receiver James Woodward. SFC has a lethal passing game, with Donge being a deep threat and excellent route runner that every team needs to have an elite pass game. Woodward is a speedy and gritty slot threat who can manage his own in about any coverage scenario you want to run him in. Not to mention, Horssen, who is an all-around solid TE who can give you great fundamentals as a receiver and a great pass-blocking ability to help his team win. SFC’s key to success in this game will be having their offense step up big with the player mentioned above, and having the cylinders click for a statement win with a tough 11A conference this upcoming season.
Canton High School
Canton is a deep team who can beat you in just about any way possible and seeing these two teams’ matchup is going to call for a lot of fireworks in this upcoming season. Canton is studded with big and physical players on both sides of the ball who have no issues running into the team’s others players and having no mercy while they do it. Having star two-sport athlete Matthew Anderson Matthew Anderson 6'5" | 190 lbs | ATH Canton | 2024 State SD helps your case to say the least. Anderson, who stands at 6’5″ 190lbs at WR, is a physical domaining figure who seldom finds himself struggling with defensive backs trying to stifle his ability to get passes into him and get big gains for his team. Defense is where you are going to Canton come out and have the best shot at winning when their defensive unit is at its best level of production. Canton has players studying its defense with talent, with Avery Herting as a defensive end who can bring down anyone who comes near his way. Herting can function well as both a pass rusher and as someone who can be an effective run stopper and defensive line anchor who seldom has any issues overpowering him. Cain Wallner is a key piece to the secondary who will anchor a unit that needs his talent and hard-hit ability to thrive in stifling the SFC pass game. Wallner can fly around the field, delivering big hits on a silver platter and breaking up passes as few can, he will be a key player for his team this year.
This is going to be a great game with what is likely to be a grudging and tough game for both teams, and no matter the outcome, the talent at play in this game will show through no matter who wins.
