#9 Jaylen Mbakwe Jaylen Mbakwe 5'11" | 165 lbs | DB Clay-Chalkville | 2024 State AL (Jr.) WR, 6-0 170 – The Alabama verbal commit caught a 38-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter for the Cougars first score of the game. The junior receiver is a big target, with great hands, and has exceptional speed. Mbakwe can break a short pass and break off a long run or catch the deep ball. Also, Mbakwe plays defensive back if needed and is the backup quarterback for the Cougars.
#13 Rodreckus Johnson Rodreckus Johnson 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Clay Chalkville | 2024 State AL (Jr.) RB, 5-11 170 – Johnson scored a 24-yard touchdown run along with a 1-yard touchdown run against Hueytown. Johnson had 113 yards on 23 carries on the night. The junior running back is very shifty with good vision. Johnson has good hands on catching the short pass and can break a tackle. Dynamic athlete with good speed and quickness.
#5 Zac McCray (Sr.) RB, 5-8 165 – McCray scored on a 5-yard touchdown run along with a two-point conversion for the Cougars. McCray had 53 yards on nine carries. McCray is another strong running back for the Cougars. The senior running back is another shifty runner, and getting a clean hit on him is hard. Even though he stands at 5-8, McCray can run between the tackles and has a lot of speed in the open field. He has good hands in the passing game and can break a long play anytime.
#1 Kamari McClellan Kamari McClellan 6'0" | 160 lbs | QB Oxford | 2024 State AL (Jr.) QB, 6-2 175 – McClellan completed 10-of-16 passes for 139 yards, one passing touchdown an interception against Hueytown. Also, the junior quarterback had a 5-yard touchdown run. McClellan has a big arm with a soft touch on his passes. Likes to work in the pocket and keeps his eyes downfield but will take off if he feels the pressure. Worked hard in the offseason working on his craft. McClellan has offers from Auburn, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Missouri, Jacksonville State and Oregon.
#31 Bravis Cave (Soph.) RB, 6-1 215 – Cave is a transfer from Florida that just made it before school started and missed most of fall camp. The sophomore running back has a lot of power and once he gets the shoulders square, he can make the big run. Cave is a problem for small defensive backs trying to bring him down at 215-pounds. Cave will get carries with the other two running backs.
#72 Jac’Qawn McRoy (JR.) OT, 6-8 345 – McRoy will be a tackle at the next level. For his 6-8 size, he does an excellent job of staying low with his block and can block with the best of them. The junior lineman has good feet and does a good in pass protection. McRoy does a great job of getting out on the cornerback on the wide receiver screenplays and makes good blocks on those plays. McRoy has offers from Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Mississippi State.
