Coming in as the 9th ranked Class of 2023 quarterback in Missouri according to the Prep Redzone database, Sutton is coming off a big season. A 4-year starter, the Trojans dual-threat quarterback shocked Missouri by leading his team to their first ever final four behind an outstanding junior season. Sutton threw for 2,314 yards with 24 touchdowns both second in the very competitive GAC South, plus seven interceptions, and completed 117 of his 201 passes (58%). He also led Troy with 1,090 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, which both ranked third in the GAC South.

Analysis:

The 11th ranked quarterback in the Class of 2023, Hughes has been impressive throughout the last two seasons for the Wildcats. As a sophomore he led Union to the 2020 Class 4 semifinals and last year was a huge reason why the Wildcats won 10 games and finished the regular season undefeated. Hughes threw for 1,949 yards with 24 touchdowns and just three interceptions with a 135.895 QB rating, which was one of the highest in Missouri. He also completed 118-of-183 (64%) passes. Expect Hughes and Union's hurry up spread offense to wreck havoc on opposing defenses yet again this coming season.

A highly underrated middle linebacker, Trotter quietly anchored a Hazelwood Central defense that allowed 15 points per game with a 68-55 combined opponent schedule, which helped them compile their best season since 2017. Trotter led the Hawks with 92 total tackles, 70 of them being solo, along with a team-high six sacks. In five games he finished in double-figures with total tackles, including a season-high 17 against Seckman. For his efforts, Trotter claimed First Team All-Conference honors in the highly competitive Suburban Yellow Conference.

Analysis:

Hernandez enjoyed a breakout year for the Spartans in 2021. As part of the 2023 class specifically in Missouri that is blessed with a loaded running back core, Hernandez earned his way into the conversation. A strong and fast back, he rushed for 1,041 yards on 208 carries with nine touchdowns, and averaged five yards per carry. He also caught 23 passes for 231 yards, and three touchdown receptions despite being in an offense that averaged 17 points a game. Expect Hernandez and Central to improve mightly this season with plenty of starters returning.

One of the most improved quarterbacks in the state of Missouri a year ago, Ahlbrand will only look to carry on from last November into August of 2022. As a sophomore in five games, Ahlbrand threw two touchdowns, was picked off six times, and completed 38% of his passes. However, he flipped the switch during his second year under center. With a full season under his belt, Ahlbrand threw for 1,835 yards, completed 102 of his 180 passes, and attained 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. With the return of his two favorite receivers, [player_tooltip player_id='300258' first='Gavin' last='Marsh'] and [player_tooltip player_id='126239' first='Tyree' last='Bonnett'], the prospects of Ahlbrand improving is very promising.
