Carl Albert would open the 2022 season on the road against Coweta in a top five match-up in Class 5A. The Titans would come up short as the Tigers knocked off the previously top ranked Titans, winning 44-14. For a complete game recap and look at some of Coweta’s top performers, READ HERE. Despite the loss, the Titans still had several players stand out on both sides of the ball, especially in some of the younger classes. We break down those prospects in this scouting report. The Titans now turn their attention to rival Midwest City in week one.
Caden Goudeau Caden Goudeau 5'8" | WR Carl Albert | 2023 OK – 2023 Wide Receiver
One of the bright spots on the offensive side of the ball was 2023 wide receiver Caden Goudeau Caden Goudeau 5'8" | WR Carl Albert | 2023 OK . We didn’t know anything about Goudeau prior to the game on Friday night and that’s why we like doing these reports. We’re constantly finding new athletes that should get more attention moving forward. Goudeau ended up being the top wide receiver in Carl Albert’s offense on Friday. He finished with seven catches for 45 yards. Granted, the majority of those receptions came on quick screens, trying to get the Carl Albert speedster into space. But it will be interesting to see how they use Goudeau moving forward. He has fantastic speed to give the Titans a different look at wide receiver as they also have a ton of size in their other standouts. Goudeau ended up being the safety blanket in the Carl Albert passing game in week zero.
Kash Ferris Kash Ferris 6'2" | QB Carl Albert | 2024 OK – 2024 Quarterback
On the first drive of the game, Carl Albert marched down the field and scored but they lost their starting quarterback Reed Dequasie Reed Dequasie 6'2" | DB Carl Albert | 2023 State OK , who broke his collarbone. Following Dequasie’s injury, 2024 QB Kash Ferris Kash Ferris 6'2" | QB Carl Albert | 2024 OK came into the game and would throw a touchdown on his first play of the game and the Titans would go up 6-0. That was the lone bright spot as Ferris struggled in a game that he was thrown into against an experienced Coweta defense. Ferris would finish 14-25 for over 100 yards and that touchdown on the first possession. But despite the struggles, Carl Albert has something in Ferris, who looks the part physically and has good arm strength. Ferris definitely has weapons around him and he should get better as the season goes on. It was our first look at him and there’s some upside there.
Tashawn James Tashawn James 6'2" | DB Carl Albert | 2023 State OK – 2023 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
Coming into the top five match-up in Class 5A, the top prospect in the game was 2023 wide receiver and defensive back Tashawn James Tashawn James 6'2" | DB Carl Albert | 2023 State OK , who is committed to Iowa State. James definitely showed why he’s one of the top defensive back prospects in the state and a future Power 5 conference player. James made an impact in all three phases of the game. However, like many players in the first couple weeks of the season, James came up hobbling with cramps on several occasions but he was still explosive throughout the game. James is another weapon in the Carl Albert offense, was excellent in pass coverage and was also a weapon in the return game for the Titans. The Titans have a few players on this year’s team that just look the part physically and James is one of them moving forward.
Trey Washington Trey Washington 6'3" | WR Carl Albert | 2025 State OK – 2025 Wide Receiver
Carl Albert’s coaching staff is very excited about the potential of Titan 2025 wide receiver Trey Washington Trey Washington 6'3" | WR Carl Albert | 2025 State OK and Friday night was our first chance to see him in person and he definitely looked the part. On the first possession of the game, Washington would catch a hitch on the Carl Albert sideline and after shaking a defender he was able to walk into the end zone. Washington would finish with two more catches on the night as the Titans would use Goudeau more in the passing game. Washington is definitely a prospect to watch out for in the 2025 class. He’s already considered a top ten prospect in the class and as Carl Albert’s new QB1 gets worked into the lineup, Washington’s production should go up later on this season. The Titans are in arguably the toughest district in the state so they’ll need his playmaking ability.
Xavier Robinson Xavier Robinson 6'2" | 225 lbs | RB Carl Albert | 2024 State OK – 2024 Running Back
Similar to Washington, this was our first chance to really see Carl Albert 2024 running back Xavier Robinson Xavier Robinson 6'2" | 225 lbs | RB Carl Albert | 2024 State OK in person and he lived up to the preseason hype that we had around him. He was Carl Albert’s leading rusher and finished with nearly 100 yards on 14 carries. Late in the game, the Titans had to throw the ball more to try to mount a comeback, otherwise Robinson’s numbers could have been much higher. Robinson is a very strong back that is nearly impossible to bring down in 1 on 1 situations. Defenders are going to need to gang tackle Robinson to have any kind of success against him. He also broke off several big runs and showed deceptive speed. Robinson isn’t just a power back but that’s definitely the strength to his game as of right now. It should be no surprise that the Titans have another marquee running back.
