Here are some receivers in Middle Georgia in the 2024 class who are ready to have breakout seasons this fall…
An easy breakout receiver in the 2024 class, Anderson is seeing his stock rise after an excellent off-season where he has impressed during the camp circuit. A speedy wideout who can get behind defenses, Anderson is coming off an excellent season for Perry last year and proved to be one of the better down-field threats in the area. He’s a weapon in the vertical passing game, but he can beat defenses with the slant route and in the screen game as well. If he has room to run, he’s going to pick up big yards. He was consistent, productive, and showed off D1 playmaking ability last year as a sophomore. He’s a smooth runner and slips through tackles with ease. He does a good job of staying on his feet after contact to pick up more yards after the catch. He’s a big-play waiting to happen, and he could be bound for a breakout junior season in 2022 with the chance to see plenty of offers come his way. Last season, Anderson caught 51 passes for 801 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Jacaree Washington – Vidalia
An impressive small-town receiver from Middle Georgia, Washington is an under the radar playmaker with good size and excellent speed at 6-foot-1 195-pounds. A two-sport standout who also makes plays on the basketball court, Washington is one of the top overall athletes in the area and is coming off an excellent sophomore season, proving to be one of the more productive wideouts in the area last year. In 2021, Washington caught an impressive 45 passes for 688 yards and 5 touchdowns. He’s dangerous in the open field and does a good job of catching the ball consistently. He’s still working on his craft and developing as a route runner, but his best football is still ahead of him. As a junior this fall, Washington has a chance to take the next step as a receiver and possibly see some college interest come his way.
Preston Bird – Veterans
An excellent route-runner with breakaway speed, Bird is without a doubt one of the most underrated receivers not only in Middle Georgia, but across the peach-state in the 2024 class. He’s a little on the shorter end, but he’s lightning quick and shows big-play ability after the catch. He’s an agile slot defender who knows how to slip behind linebackers and find an open area down the field. He’s great with the ball in his hands and knows how to zig-zag past defenders on his way to a giant gain. He shows good hands, changes directions well, and was consistent all season last year as a sophomore, catching 38 passes for 661 yards and 4 touchdowns. Look for him to improve those numbers as a junior in 2022.
