The talent is there for a Rock Hill offense that wants to be balanced under Bubba Pittman’s Air Raid, spread offense. Matthew Wilson Matthew Wilson 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Rock Hill | 2024 State SC returns for another season with his dynamic playmaking ability in the passing and run game.
Wilson will have two reliable targets to lean on with wide receivers Jamond Carothers and Damaryion Pichardo. Daimon Fee and Jonathan Crawford will each have a chance to compete for the starting running back spot.
On the offensive line, seniors Michael Shook and Hunter Melton return. Those two guys should create running lanes for the running back and the quarterback run game.
The biggest question for the Bearcats may be on the defensive side of the football, particularly on the defensive line as they lost Maurice Bonneau and Luke Bracey to graduation. Look for Andrew Trotter and Elijah Patton to be the leaders on the defensive line. The core of linebackers should be one of the strengths for Rock Hill as Treston Powers and Ta’Nayia Roberts both return for their senior year.
The secondary has three guys listed on the Varsity roster that will be seniors with Ta’Raqcus Young, Deshawn Mungo and AJ Cooper.
Rock Hill’s 2022 schedule is a bit different this year with the region realignment that occurred over the summer. They will open the season with their two cross town rivals: Northwestern on August 19 before facing South Pointe the following week, both games at District 3 Stadium. Lancaster and Lower Richland should be decent non-region on challenges for the Bearcats before the rigors of region play begin.
