Carlsbad returns two key pieces on their DL in Jacob Sisson and Cassius Murphy that both should attract FCS interest this season. Vincent Friend and Ezriel Noa are physical tacklers at LB while Joseph Matthews is a dynamic playmaker in the secondary.
Jacob Sisson- DL, Carlsbad
Sisson will be a strong EDGE player for a talented Carlsbad team in the fall. He’s added weight to his 6’2”/215 frame and shown continued development in his pass-rush skillset offseason work. He’s a rangy athlete that can beat OTs around the edge with length, bend, and an effective swim move. He’s a disciplined cutback defender in the run game and looks comfortable chasing out wide. Sisson should be on the FCS radar as a senior.

Joseph Matthews- DB, Oceanside
Matthews is a smooth athlete and a physical tackler from his SS spot. He’s a rangy defender at 6’1”/185 that can play in space and drop into coverage. He can fill the box and provide aggressive run support or blitz off the edge. He shows good field/positional awareness and is efficient with his pursuit angles. Look for Matthews to be the leader in the secondary for Oceanside.
He is a baller. Can play safety and nickel. Also has a 4.0 GPA. Total package ™️〽️ https://t.co/YfDG6HVHHS

Vincent Friend- LB, Mater Dei Catholic
Friend’s a key returner for MDC’s state championship defense that also returns several other D-I prospects. He’s a physical OLB that plays fast and with a nose for the football. He likes to play downhill and can be disruptive behind the LOS blitzing off the edge. He can bounce off blocks and make tackles out wide with good straight-line speed. He’s capable of dropping into shallow zone coverage. Friend will once again form a heavy-hitting LB trio alongside top prospects Tre Edwards Tre Edwards 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Mater Dei Catholic | 2023 State CA and Anthony McMillian Anthony McMillian 6'1" | 215 lbs | RB Mater Dei Catholic | 2024 State CA .

Cassius Murphy- DL, Carlsbad
Murphy’s a versatile DL that moved around playing NT, DT, and DE as a junior. He shows polished technique using his length and leverage well. He sheds blocks with violent hands and packs a strong punch at the LOS. He can fight through double teams and beat interior OL with athleticism/explosiveness. He shows lateral speed tracking outside run and motor to the football. Murphy has potential to be a breakout DL prospect in San Diego.

Ezriel Noa- LB, Helix
Noa’s an active ILB that should be one of the leading tacklers for Helix this season. He’s a physical player in the run game that fills aggressively and plays with motor. He can sift through blockers operating well in tight spaces and locate ball-carriers out of the backfield. He plays with good pad level and shows some lateral burst. Noa’s one of the more underrated LBs in San Diego heading into the season.
Thank You Jesus For another season
