The vast majority of the prospects listed have an offer or two but aren’t currently getting a ton of hype in the recruiting world. I do think, with yet another season of high production, that could change. These young men have a ton of potential, and I believe when it’s all said & done, more coaches will come calling.
Edge: Kymani Lautaimi, 6’1″ 235, West
- Violent hands as a rusher.
- Uses a well-trained long arm to give tackles problems in the pass game.
- Can easily sit & anchor down as a run stopper.
- Establishes lockout before ripping off to make tackles.
DB: Viliata Tua’one, 5’11” 175, West
- An intuitive player that reads route concepts well.
- Uses patient feet to go with a firm off-hand jam to widen a receiver’s release.
- Leans and locates the football.
- Outstanding ball skills.
CB: Ruben Otuafi, 6′ 185, Riverton
- Impressive recovery speed.
- Uncharacteristically physical for a corner.
- Shoots rather than swats at PBU attempts.
- Plays with consistent eye discipline in man coverage.
WR: Crew McChesney, 5’11” 175, Lone Peak
- A freaky athlete that’s committed to BYU for baseball.
- Eats up leverage off the snap.
- Off-the-charts route running ability.
- Quickness gives press corners problems.
OL: Kai Sevy, 6’4″ 275, Corner Canyon
- Moves like a gazelle.
- Wins with his feet first in pass protection.
- Easily redirects east and west against counter moves.
- Consistently catches down linemen lunging in the run game and makes them pay.
ATH: Jake Hill, 6’2″ 185, Snow Canyon
- Plenty of situational awareness.
- Can make tough contested catches.
- Springy.
- Plucks the football away from his body.
- Takes pride in being a perimeter blocker.
LB: Elijah Teriipaia, 6’1″ 220, Skyridge
- Destroys blocks at the point of attack.
- Causes serious penetration in the run game.
- Very effective when used as a blitzer.
- A legitimate hustler for four quarters.
DB: Michael Falatea, 6′ 195, West
- Terrific top-end speed and change of direction.
- Electric with the football in every facet of the game.
- Showed a ton of positional versatility on the offensive side.
- As rangy as they come.
ATH: Jessaia Moala, 6’1″ 210, Layton Christian Academy
- Plays angry but flashed great body control to go with it.
- Quickness and strength gives opposing blockers issues.
- A two-way player that provided a ton of production on both sides of the football.
- Has deceptive speed, consistently splitting two defenders on the offensive end.
