Here are some promising quarterbacks who have the potential to have a breakout season this fall in 4A…
Armar Gordon JR – Perry
One of the top under the radar quarterbacks in Middle Georgia, the Perry native but up big numbers last year as a junior and made it look easy at times. He’s not the biggest quarterback you’ll find in the area, but he has one of the strongest arms in all of 4A. He loves chucking the ball deep and he does it accurately as well. He spreads the ball around well and stands firm in the pocket as he waits for his receivers to get open. One he finds his target, he knows how to throw a strike. He threw on defenses consistently all season and is the leading returning passer in 4A for the upcoming season. The 5-foot-11 170-pounder threw for 2,990 yards and 32 touchdowns last season, proving he’s one of the most productive quarterbacks in all of Middle Georgia. Look for him to put up even better numbers as a senior this fall.
Owen Booker – Northwest Whitfield
Another top under the radar QB to know from North Georgia is the 6-foot-0 185-pounder from Tunnel Hill. The dual-threat playmaker is one of the most competitive players you’ll find in the region and is incredibly cerebral. He’s a multi-year starter and is coming off a giant season where he threw for just under 3,000 yards and and tossed 25 touchdowns on the season. He’s smart, took care of the football and threw for just under 250 yards per game. As a runner, Booker knows how to beat defenses with his legs, rushing for 624 yards and 11 touchdowns last year. Booker led the Bruins to a strong 8-4 season last year but expectations are higher this fall thanks for Booker. He’s a true leader and such a weapon as both a passer and a runner. He’s one of the top overall athletes in the region and bound for another monster season in 4A as a senior this fall. He’s one of the top quarterbacks in North Georgia and he should light up the state sheet this fall.
Jah’marion Smith – Bainbridge
One of the most dynamic quarterbacks in South Georgia, Smith is still known as an under the radar quarterback even after a big junior season. The Bearcats are always loaded with talent, and Smith is one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the area. The 5-foot-10 175-pounder is a true playmaker who moves well in the pocket and throws well on the run. He’s still developing as a passer, but it’s easy to see his potential. He moves around the pocket well and shows the ability to take care of the football, only throwing six INTs last year. He’s still improving his accuracy and overall arm strength, but he showed big-play ability last fall. As he improves this summer, Smith has a chance to have a breakout year in 2022. Last fall, Smith threw for around 2,100 yards and 22 touchdowns. Look for those numbers to increase in a big way as a senior.
Pauly Seeley – New Hampstead
A mobile quarterback with big play ability, the Savannah native is accurate with the football and does a great job of moving in the pocket and keeping the play alive. He throws with touch, anticipation, and shows good footwork in the pocket when looking for open receivers. He throws well on the run and shows a lot of promise for this fall. He’s a gamer who has a good feel for the position and will only get better with each practice this summer. He’s likely to run a little bit more next year and take care of the football a little better as well. He’s one of the top returning quarterbacks not only in the Savannah area but all across 4A. Last season, Seely threw for almost 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns.
