Running back is still a glamor position in High School that gets a lot of attention and upper classmen fighting for the starting spot. If you are getting major carries as a sophomore that means they couldn’t keep you off the field. These RB’s are all of that and more as they were key contributors on offense and defense on their respective teams and sure fire college prospects come the fall.
Rahmir Gosa, Lincoln
Rahmir is what we used to call shifty back in the day. He has great lateral quickness and nice balance allowing him to weave between defenders. He has good speed and initial burst to the hole, attacking the line of scrimmage and putting pressure on linebackers to commit. He exhibits great leg drive on his film as well, running through arm tackles for lots of yards after contact. Rahmir had 710 rushing yards on 107 carries and 12 touchdowns. He’s also a linebacker on defense putting in 4 sacks, 4 TFLs and 37 solo tackles. Looking forward to his Junior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="220066" first="James" last="Hill"] Jr, Woodstown
At 5’11, 180 pounds he has great size for going into his junior year. James is explosive, hitting the hole quickly and exhibits good top end speed as well. He has the unique ability to shift gears from patiently waiting from blocking to develop to exploding up field for massive gains. James’ film also shows great balance and leg drive, allowing him to extend plays for yard after contact. He put up over 1300 yards as a sophomore with 18 total touchdowns. Hill also plays linebacker, where he racked up 97 total tackles, 3.5 TFLs and 3 sacks. That’s an impressive sophomore season on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="220060" first="Trashon" last="Dye"], Passaic County Tech,
Trashon has the size that D1 programs are looking for. At 6’0, 195 pounds his combination of size and speed makes him very difficult to bring down. He has a very effective stiff arm, he lower the shoulder on tacklers, he’s got a great dead leg move and can cut back on linebackers with surprising quickness. That’s an advanced skillset for a sophomore. He ran for 1196 yards and 9 touchdowns last season and I’m calling it now, Trashon’s phone will be blowing up with scouts come this September.

[player_tooltip player_id="380392" first="Nazir" last="Treadwell"], Keyport
Nazir is an exceptional athlete, with great lateral quickness, burst and agility in the open field. He has excellent footwork behind the line of scrimmage to set up blocking and to make quick cuts up the middle when he has to make something happen on his own. He put put 668 yards and 8 touchdown this season while literally weaving through defenses. At 6’0, 180 pounds he’s also an excellent DB prospect, but either way he will be a major contributor for Keyport on both sides of the ball.

Malachi Dudley, Barringer
Malachi has great size at 5’11, 190 pounds as a sophomore. What sticks out to me most is his top end speed, which he displays on offense and defense. He can burst through the middle or get to the outside with equal ability and has the size to break any arm tackles along the way. His combination of size and speed plus his tackling ability makes him a viable college prospect at multiple positions.
