The 2023 rankings were just updated and released https://prepredzone.com/2022/07/updated-2023-oregon-rankings-5/, listing the top 200 athletes in the state of Oregon. Over the next few weeks we will breakdown the positional groups and what each individual brings to the table. Have a look at the ATH's.. *Athletes will only be listed on one side of the football ATH 1.[player_tooltip player_id="110176" first="Demarcus" last="Houston"] 6-2 185 West Albany (OFFERS: Oregon St, Portland St) You could list Houston as the top ATH/WR/DB in the state. His versatility is what makes him such an appealing recruit. Expect the 3* standout to add a handful of additional D1 offers before he is done as the film speaks for itself. 2.[player_tooltip player_id="110180" first="Mark" last="Hamper"] 6-2 205 West Linn (OFFERS: Portland St) Hamper will be a conference and state POY favorite on both sides of the football next season. He earned 1st team all-league honors on O & D going for close to 1300 all-purpose and 12 TDs offensively, along with 42 total tackles and 5 INTs on defense. 3.[player_tooltip player_id="342013" first="Zach" last="Wusstig"] 6-1 180 South Salem- Wusstig projects at DB but will also be a viable offensive threat, so he's listed as an ATH. I like the move to South to show what he can do against top competition. He would have been the overwhelming favorite for Oregon 2A POY honors. 4.[player_tooltip player_id="206757" first="Tini" last="Tinitali III"] 6-0 180 South Salem- Tinitali led the state of Oregon in receptions (78) and finished 2nd in total receiving yards with 1,040 at the 6A level. The Saxons are loaded at the skill positions so it will be interesting to see if he can maintain those type of #s. 5.[player_tooltip player_id="110174" first="Kaden" last="Huppin"] 6-0 185 Westview- Expect Huppin to be one of the top two-way threats in the state as a senior. He earned 3rd team all Metro honors at DB, but tests off the charts and has the potential of being one of the best in Oregon. 6.[player_tooltip player_id="147250" first="Brayde" last="Owen"] 6-1 195 Gladstone- Owen should be considered a 4A conference and state POY candidate. He has the potential of being a 1st team guy on O, D, and as a return man. 7.[player_tooltip player_id="376136" first="Jaylun" last="Nowickas"] 6-3 210 West Salem- One of Oregon's fastest rising recruits who received a national ranking from 247 sports. He has great size and is equally dangerous on both sides of the football, showing impressive fluidity. 8.[player_tooltip player_id="110237" first="Keontae" last="Johnson-Gibson"] 5-11 160 Clackamas- It wouldn't surprise me to see Johnson-Gibson have a 1st team all-state season at DB. He will be a factor on both sides of the ball, but stands out on D where he earned 2nd team all Mt Hood accolades. 9.[player_tooltip player_id="110218" first="Grafton" last="Robinson"] 5-10 175 Sheldon- This kid has the potential to blow up this season especially with his supporting cast. He went somewhat under the radar last season, with 1,446 total yards and 12 TDs, while earning 1st team all-conference honors at RB. 10.[player_tooltip player_id="110216" first="Zach" last="McEwen"] 5-10 160 Sheldon- Much like Robinson, one of the most exciting kids in the state after the catch. He had an outstanding junior campaign totaling 934 yards and 7 TDs on 40 catches. 11.[player_tooltip player_id="206766" first="Jeray" last="Mott"] 6-0 160 Jefferson- Mott did well on the 7v7 circuit, earning 1st team all PIL honors as a Junior at DB. Expect him to be featured on offense as the Demos should compete for a conference title. 12.[player_tooltip player_id="376140" first="Jace" last="Swygard"] 6-3 200 Lakeridge- Coach Spencer Phillips called Swyagrd a "Swiss Army Knife". He brings a lot to the table and is one of the most versatile athletes in the state, catching 15 passes for 224 yards as a junior. 13.[player_tooltip player_id="147867" first="Alisjah" last="Tucker"] 6-0 170 Southridge- The Skyhawks made the surprising drop to 5A. Tucker earned all conference honors at DB and impressed on offense the last two seasons. He will need to dominate 5A competition if he is going to be listed among the top ATH's in the state. 14.[player_tooltip player_id="272292" first="Devon" last="Anderson"] 6-2 170 North Eugene- Anderson had an outstanding junior season as an athlete playing QB, totaling close to 2000 total yards. He may project more on D where he had 4 INTs and 5 pass deflections in 6 games. 15.[player_tooltip player_id="272217" first="Jaxon" last="Watson"] 5-11 170 South Salem- Watson has had a nice off season, earning honorable mention all conference honors on D as a junior. It will be interesting to see how they get him in the mix on offense as the kid can play.
