This is going to be a long series of new additions to our rankings to make sure that each young man is highlighted. That being said, there are P5 caliber recruits down to D3/JUCO recruits. The moral of the story, each of these young men did the work and deserved a spot in our rankings. We’re here to highlight their hard work. Without further ado, let’s take a look at Pt. 4 of our New Additions to the 24’ Rankings.
Jack Philbin Jack Philbin 5'9" | 165 lbs | DB Glenbrook North | 2024 IL Twitter
Mr. Philbin is a safety that flashes his ability to trigger downhill to play the alley in run support to deliver a heavy blow on the ball carrier. His heavy hitting is also seen in pass coverage as he’s not afraid to deliver the heavy blow on the receiver trying to secure the catch inside the hashes forcing the pass breakup. This young man is also used in the return game game where once he finds an alley he can use his foot quicks to break a long return. Overall, this is a young man that can fly around the field to make plays in both run and pass defense.
Kaleb Isom Kaleb Isom 5'11" | 195 lbs | WR Marian Catholic | 2024 IL Twitter
Mr. Isom is an outside receiver that flashes his ability to work back to the ball, making the first defender miss in open space, and getting vertical once he secures the catch. Keep an eye on his ability to win over the top and secure the contested catch. When he’s pressed he can gain outside release and gain the step advantage where he then tracks the ball well to secure the catch. Overall, keep an eye on this young man this fall season. He could very well see his stock rise as a result of high production.
Tyler Threat Tyler Threat 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Waubonsie Valley | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Threat can take a three step slant the distance as he angles his break at the top of the route and uses his foot quicks to break a long run for six. This young man is utilized on jet sweeps as well as in the run game, both of which he uses his foot quicks to gain a step on the 2nd level defenders and break long runs. Overall, I’m interested to see what his full route tree looks like with a full season of production under his belt. With that being said, his foot quicks are impressive and one to keep an eye on both when he’s at receiver and in the backfield at tailback.
Ryan Schissler Ryan Schissler 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Lincoln Way Central | 2024 IL Twitter
Mr. Schissler is a slot reciever that can secure the bubble screen and get vertical using his foot quicks to gain a step on the 2nd level defenders breaking a long run in the process. When he’s on the outside, he flashes his ability to close space on the corner quickly and win over the top on deep shots downfield. This young man is also utilized in the return game where his foot quicks are further showcased once he finds an alley. Overall, keep an eye on his ability to track the ball and turn underneath routes into big gains on the play.
Zackary Clark Zackary Clark 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB St. Rita | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Clark works out of the slot on offense where he flashes his ability to track the ball well over his shoulder when running post corner routes as well as looking the ball in when stemming outside on his seam routes along the sideline to secure the catch with a toe tap. Now, he has a handful of snaps on the defensive side of the ball showcasing his skill set as well. Here, he flashes his ability to high point the ball to secure the contested catch as well as flashes his reaction time to secure interceptions off tipped passes – both of which translate well to his receiver position. Let’s not forget that he can be used in the return game as well where once he finds an alley he can use his foot quicks to break a long return setting his team up in good starting field position. Overall, look for more of this young man’s potential to come to light heading into this fall season and keep an eye on his hand-eye coordination too.
Dewayne Brooks Dewayne Brooks 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR Westinghouse | 2024 IL Twitter
If you turn on Mr. Brooks first clip in his highlights you’ll be in for a show. This young man showcases his ability to get in/out of the hole quickly and once he does he gains a step on the second level defenders breaking a long run in the process. What I’m most interested to see out of this young man this fall is his shiftiness and elusiveness once he’s in open space. This is seen in the return game, when he’s at halfback and when he takes snaps out of the slot. I’m very interested to see what his laser times 40 time is as he flies down the field once the ball is in his hands. Overall, keep an eye on this young man as he can very well catch the attention of college coaches with a good production this fall.
