Team Overview: The Bellevue East Chieftains enter the 2022 season with a very optimistic outlook. First-year Head Coach Aaron Thumann has begun to create a culture shift that has many players buying in early and going the extra mile. Several upper and underclass players have been hard at work this offseason at camps, 7v7 games, and other practices/training. QB [player_tooltip player_id="245832" first="Mikey" last="Gow"] has been receiving national attention from both the social media world and college football coaches. Gow went viral for his ambidextrous passing ability and showed it off at camps all over the country, including Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma State, Iowa, Ohio State, and several others. Even with all the traveling, that hasn’t stopped Gow and receivers [player_tooltip player_id="330303" first="Mark" last="Anderson"], [player_tooltip player_id="330223" first="Chase" last="Ziemer"], [player_tooltip player_id="340481" first="Tynarius" last="Harris"], and others from building strong chemistry. [player_tooltip player_id="245857" first="Adin" last="Carrera"] could be a star for the Chieftains at cornerback and running back. They’ll also have Marshal and [player_tooltip player_id="250633" first="Mason" last="Chandler"], the top two tacklers from last year, back in the middle of the field, ready to make plays. Get ready for a hungry team on the prowl to take some names in 2022.

[player_tooltip player_id="245832" first="Mikey" last="Gow"] - QB - 2025 - 6’2" 185 lbs - Hudl - Twitter
Mikey might be in the running for "busiest prospect of the offseason." Gow has been all gas, no brakes since the conclusion of his freshman season, and does not look to slow down soon. As a freshman, Mikey threw for 868 passing yards and tossed 5 touchdowns with the potential to improve on those numbers significantly. Seeing him throw at recent 7v7 games and camps, his progression as a thrower is evident. He can make tough passes to the outside and has improved his touch and timing. Mikey could be on the verge of a breakout season.

Mark is a player that has been coming into his own this offseason and has improved a lot. He is a slick route runner that can sink his hips and change directions on a dime. Anderson ended last season as the second leading receiver with 11 catches for 126 yards and will be the featured receiver in the passing attack. Anderson has been hard at work this offseason and is ready to reap the rewards once the season starts.

Carrera hopped on my radar after the PRZ Stock Up showcase, where he showed lots of toughness and physicality. He plays the cornerback position with a physical edge and loves to get his hands in on the action to break up passes and press at the line. Adin also looks bigger and stronger than when I saw him last, which will benefit him as he also takes a bigger role at running back. Carrera is one of the most underrated players in the 2024 class and will be looking to put people on notice.

[player_tooltip player_id="340481" first="Tynarius" last="Harris"] - WR/DB - 2024 - 5’10" 160 lbs - Hudl - Twitter
Tynarius is an interesting prospect that could be a huge surprise for those unaware of this young man. Harris is a transfer from Omaha Bryan and already looks like he has made himself at home in the Bellevue East offense. Harris is a speedy, shifty receiver that is going to be a lot of fun to watch in this offense. Tynarius has great hands and can flat-out go up and snag the ball. He has the hops and length to make catches outside of his frame. I’m also looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the defense as a defensive back.

WR Ziemer is a sleeper prospect heading into the 2022 season. He only saw a few targets last season and finished the season with 6 catches for 45 yards, but that looks to change for him. Ziemer has looked really impressive in 7v7 competition and has built great chemistry with Mikey. He is a great athlete with good speed that can stretch the field vertically. Ziemer and Anderson are going to be a tough 1-2 punch to handle.

[player_tooltip player_id="239832" first="Marshal" last="Chandler"] - LB - 2023 - 5’11" 180 lbs - Hudl
Marshal is an up-and-coming 2023 linebacker ready to make a splash this season. Marshal finished his junior campaign with 35 total tackles and racked up 5 tackles for loss. He is explosive when he shoots through his gaps and is a physical tackler when he gets to the ball carrier. I’m excited to see how Marshal has improved after the summer grind.

[player_tooltip player_id="250633" first="Mason" last="Chandler"] - LB - 2024 - 6’0" 190 lbs - Hudl - Twitter
Mason should be a great two-way player for the Chieftains at linebacker and receiver. The younger Chandler is a tough, hard-hitting thumper of a linebacker that loves to lay the wood. Mason was the leading tackler for East with 55 total tackles and showed that he could explode into the backfield with 5 tackles for loss and a sack. He had a great showing during Bellevue East’s 7v7 game against Omaha South. Mason looked explosive coming off the line and got behind the defense for a couple of long touchdowns. Mason is only going into his junior year, so there’s plenty of time to get those offers in.
