Nylan Brown Nylan Brown 6'0" | 230 lbs | LB Ben Davis | 2024 State IN – Ben Davis – LB – 6’0″ 225lbs – 2024
Brown is the real deal. I’ve gotten to know Nylan and his father a bit since evaluating his film and I was excited to meet him tonight. Not only does he look the part physically, he’s always got a smile on his face, and has an incredibly strong grip. When he shook my hand, he made sure to make it be remembered. In the mental toughness drills, before he went, he was the one counting and leading his group. They lifted dumbbells and someone needed to count. Nylan was the one who did for everyone. Not only did he go once, he went twice and pounded out over 260 reps. When we got back to the field, we saw the same traits. A big dude, athletic, good vision, and wants every rep. When you look at Nylan, you can tell he works. He’s got a fantastic frame and is well-built. He’s got the size to come down to the LOS and play the end. I spoke with him and he said that’s part of the plan this fall. He’s going to be an inside backer and then come down into the box from and do damage control or create damage when needed. Nylan is going to continue developing and by the time he comes out, don’t be shocked if he’s a household name.
Andre Thomas Jr – Belleville (MI) – LB – 6’0″ 195lbs – 2025
Thomas came down with his teammate, Reed, and they both left with medals. They both came to play and didn’t mess around with the opportunity at hand. Thomas was one of the first LBs to finish during the mental toughness drills. He also ripped out a ton of reps with the dumbbells and never slowed down. I don’t remember the exact number, but at the time, he took the lead. He’s a fantastic athlete with a great change of direction and is very fluid in everything on the field. He’s got great speed when in pursuit and has great closing speed. He never once got fooled that I saw and batted away a few balls. He’s able to play the run and come into the box. He’s physical and looks the part. He’s got really long arms and his grip matches. If he got his hand on a ball carrier, they weren’t going anywhere. He was able to go out wide and run with every RB who went against. He never labored and knew when to throw his arms up to go for a PBU. He’s a raw athlete who stands out because of the versatility he offers and how fast and athletic he is. He really stood out and both guys from Belleville left with medals. They were 2 of the best players on the field and everything was earned. Thomas is putting himself in a great spot long term with his recruitment. He’s got all the raw tools and a ton of upside as he develops. The best part about all of this, he’s young and is only going to get better and better before he graduates.
Owen Bright Owen Bright 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Center Grove | 2024 State IN – Center Grove – LB – 6’0″ 205lbs – 2024
Bright was as good as advertised. He’s someone we got to look at more in depth a while back and he checks out in person He’s a rangy athlete with good cover skills and speed. He’s well built and works hard. During the mental toughness testing, he was one of the guys who didn’t seem to struggle. He was one of the first to finish the under cover drill and had no issue carrying his buddy. On the field, the same things you see from tape translated right over. Bright is a good athlete with decent feet, good pad level, and keeps his shoulders square. When he attacks, he attacks and doesn’t hesitate. He’s able to bounce around where he covers and has enough speed to play a little loose. He gave some of the RBs trouble in the 1 on 1s. He was on the ball like a hawk and would take a swat at it when he could. He’s instinctive and doesn’t arrive early. On tape, he’s a consistent tackler and good in open spaces to prevent a big play. While there was no live drills yesterday, Bright would have been ready to roll. Some guys lingered towards the back hoping to not be called out. Bright was eager for more reps and made the most of them. He left with a medal and it’s because he earned it. Bright has a fantastic future ahead of him if he keeps developing the way he is.
Eric Richardson – Brownsburg – LB – 5’11″ – 2025
Richardson is interesting because he’s not easy to find on social media but stands out on the field. He too left with a medal and deservedly so. We’re talking about a great athlete who can cover, tackle in space, and be moved around like a chess piece. He’s got a fantastic change of direction and really stood out in the bag drills right before the 1 on 1s. Don’t get me wrong, he made a ton of plays in is reps, but Indy is where he first caught my eye. He’s a quick learner, aggressive, and was coach-able. While I wasn’t able to locate his film, everything I heard and saw about him checked out. Before the camp started, he was pointed out to me as a potential guy to keep an eye on. Sure enough, he was. Richardson is completely under the radar and unnoticed right now. Partially in part, because he’s not big on the internet right now. He’s a versatile LB with the tools to develop into an Inside backer at the next level. I wasn’t able to locate an accurate weight, but he’s not thin. He’s decently built and definitely lifts. His future is bright and this fall I’d really like to see him get some tape and then hop on HUDL and get the ball rolling. Brownsburg is a great program and Richardson is coming right down the pipe with the potential to be the next big one from that area.
