The Fall football season is right around the corner but we still have tons of scouting to do with all prospects in this state, including the guys from the 2025 class.
While the upperclassmen have been the focus most of the year and justifiably so, we still need to look towards the future and the prospects who will be the next stars to lead their programs and push their way into the college game.
The 2025 in-state recruiting class is already shaping up as a strong group of prospects that are destined to make it into the Power Five, D1, FCS ranks but there is plenty of time for them to develop further while others mature and grow into a college prospect as well.
At the very top of our 1st initial 2025 rankings sits Ensworth D-lineman [player_tooltip player_id="219447" first="Ethan" last="Utley"] as the overall number one prospect for the sophomore class. He is a beast in the trenches that brings a lot of physical traits and upside to the line of scrimmage that college coaches are already enamored with and he is far from a finished product.
Right behind Utley in the number two position sits a big time quarterback prospect in [player_tooltip player_id="219419" first="George" last="MacIntyre"] from Brentwood Academy. The 6'5 gunslinger has tremendous arm talent that translates well to the next level and has already landed offers from Michigan, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt with many others interested.

Back in the trenches on the offensive line, Lipscomb Academy big man [player_tooltip player_id="219412" first="Chauncey" last="Gooden"] comes in ranked 3rd and a guy that can fight for the top spot with continued body and game development.
Rounding out the top five prospects for the 2025 class here in Tennessee is Alcoa tight end [player_tooltip player_id="219408" first="Eli" last="Owens"] (#4) and stud Lipscomb Academy safety [player_tooltip player_id="328635" first="C.J." last="Jimcoily"] (#5). These are two power five made prospects that have tremendous upside and playmaking abilities on both sides of the ball.
The top five guys are ultra talented but they aren't the only ones. Sitting right behind them, finishing out the top 10 are five other big time prospects with Power Five abilities and the upside to fight for the top spot as the best player in the 2025 class.
Those five are [player_tooltip player_id="219421" first="Cameron" last="Sparks"] from Baylor (#6), the top ranked receiver currently in [player_tooltip player_id="220241" first="Joakim" last="Dodson"] from Collierville (#7), Powell's beefy O-lineman in [player_tooltip player_id="327528" first="Warren" last="Nolen"] (#8), rangy safety [player_tooltip player_id="334645" first="Martels" last="Carter, Jr"] from Brainerd (#9) and edge rushing linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="219439" first="Eric" last="Hazzard"] (#10) from Page.

Multiple Mustangs Ranked Inside Top 50
Our initial 2025 prospect rankings have several guys with bright futures on the college gridiron but no team was more represented than the Mustangs from Lipscomb Academy. Starting with Gooden ranked in the 3rd position, the Mustangs have a total of ten prospects ranked inside the Top 50. That is quite impressive to have 9 guys from the 50 players ranked, which tells you how stacked and talented their sophomore class really is.
Gooden and Jimcoily lead the way at 3rd and 5th overall but closely following them is D-lineman [player_tooltip player_id="323137" first="Amir" last="Leonard-Jean Charles"] (#17th), running back [player_tooltip player_id="301396" first="Andrew" last="Patterson, Jr"] (#19th), highly talented tight end Troy Briggs, Jr (#22nd), quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="219425" first="Tav" last="Shaffer"] (#24th), D-lineman [player_tooltip player_id="219400" first="Antonio" last="Carter, Jr"] (#30th), physical linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="219367" first="Kristopher" last="Thompson"] (#39th), fellow linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="301403" first="Aidan" last="Wright"] (#43rd) and versatile O-lineman [player_tooltip player_id="258663" first="Jon" last="Adair"] rounding things out at 49th overall.
Lipscomb Academy is coming off a state title last season and the future looks bright for the Mustangs towards more championships with this sophomore class being so deep and talented.

Top 2025 Position by Rankings: Offensive Line
There is a long way to go for this 2025 as many, many others will be added to the rankings over the coming months and years but as of right now, the O-line looks like the deepest and most talented position group of all.
This position rides ten deep in our initial Top 50 sophomore rankings, beginning with Gooden ranked 3rd overall. Right behind him in the Top 10 is Nolen, followed by new Baylor O-lineman [player_tooltip player_id="219445" first="Jimmy" last="Bryson"], who is ranked 18th to finish out the Top 20. Bryson is a well balanced, athletic guy that could rise in the next updated rankings.
Behind Bryson and just outside the Top 20 sits [player_tooltip player_id="219432" first="Judd" last="Taylor"] out of Carter in the 21st position. Taylor is another multi talented O-lineman with tremendous upside and potential for the Power Five level.

Rounding out the O-linemen in the Top 50 is Ravenwood's [player_tooltip player_id="219438" first="Kyle" last="Larkin"] (#26th), [player_tooltip player_id="250865" first="Ta'Khyian" last="Whitset"] (#27th) from Antioch, [player_tooltip player_id="258335" first="Cole" last="Sieveking"] (#36th) from MBA, East Tennessee unknown [player_tooltip player_id="353396" first="Reid" last="Rowland"] (#46th) from Bearden and Lipscomb Academy's future starting center/guard Adair.
This collection of O-linemen rivals the 2023 class where we have 20 plus trench monsters considered D1, FCS level guys and others with potential for the next level. The 2025 crop looks as equally talented and maybe even deeper as more guys will jump on the radar over the coming years.
Top Level Athletes To Watch
Another strong factor that stands out about the initial 2025 rankings is the level of athleticism that is spread out throughout the state with multiple guys who could see their stock explode over time.
We know about the guys in the Top 10 but others behind the top guys are ultra athletic and have a shot at rising up the rankings during our next update. A few of those guys to know going forward include [player_tooltip player_id="219450" first="Ethan" last="Carson"] from Blackman (#11th), West Tennessee standout [player_tooltip player_id="219345" first="Jaylen" last="Mosley"] (#13th) from Jackson Christian, two-way talent [player_tooltip player_id="219448" first="A.J." last="Wallace"] (#23rd) from Chatt. Christian, Centennial's dynamic playmaker [player_tooltip player_id="310897" first="Kani'" last="Johnson"] (#28th), [player_tooltip player_id="219401" first="Jamarion" last="Morrow"] (#29th) from Germantown and ultra athletic prospect [player_tooltip player_id="219397" first="Dominic" last="Taylor"] (#34th) from Riverdale.

Carson and Mosley stand out the most as two guys who could excel on either side of the ball but both also have tons of room to grow with their bodies and development of their skill sets.
Wallace is a two-way talent who's upside I feel fits best on defense in the secondary. Johnson is one of the more athletic guys in the entire 2025 rankings and someone with a high ceiling for the college level.
Morrow is a strong, compact prospect that is labeled as an athlete but could soon be placed in the running back category as that's where I feel his biggest upside sits. Taylor is another ultra athletic guy that could play a variety of positions for his Warriors team and eventually see his stock grow into a national status.
