Continue ReadingThe young bucks have been working their tails off since they entered the high school ranks and the time has come to launch our first rankings update for the Class of 25′. With this being the first rankings list, changing from only a watch list to a rankings and watch list, we’re going to show love to as many of these young men as possible. In this article series, we’re going to dive into new young men that were added to our database and you should keep a close eye on. Without further ado, let’s dive into Part 2 of our 25′ Rankings New Additions.
Jack Wanzung Jack Wanzung 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH St. Ignatius | 2025 State IL Twitter
Mr. Wanzung isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder to fight for extra yards when he pulls the ball down to scramble. His highlights are also full of him breaking long runs gashing the opposing defense once he clears the line of scrimmage. This young man provides glimpses of being able to make throws on the move out of platform. In one clip, he puts the ball right into the receiver’s hands along the sideline only where his receiver can get it to keep the chains moving – a trait to keep an eye on over the course of his high school career. He also plays outside linebacker and has potential here too.
Tristan Pusateri Tristan Pusateri 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB Mount Carmel | 2025 IL Twitter
Mr. Pusateri’s ability to close on the JV level is one to keep an eye on as he continues to develop as he can very well turn into a true run stopper. His splits differentiate depending on the offensive formation he’s going up against but that doesn’t deter him from being able to trigger downhill quickly in run support to meet the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage for no gain. Not to mention, he showcases glimpses of being able to drop back into his hook/curl zone coverage and close quickly once the quarterback escapes the pocket. One more thing, his first clip in his highlights shows the potential he has to become a threat off the edge on passing downs. Here, he can sink his hips to get past the offensive tackle before closing quickly on the quarterback for the sack – another area he could potentially pose a threat heading into next season.
Caron Johnson Caron Johnson 5'10" | 180 lbs | QB Romeoville | 2025 IL
Mr. Johnson has the arm talent to him, showcased in his highlights below, and has untapped potential that has yet to come to light. What stands out the most is his ability to make something out of nothing when the play breaks down with his legs and being able to get the ball off with pressure in his face. This young man also provides glimpses of hitting deep shots downfield along the sideline which at times can go for six. He also takes snaps at cornerback as well where he showcases his potential, he currently has the edge at quarterback.
Devin Habermehl Devin Habermehl 6'2" | 220 lbs | DL Collinsville | 2025 State IL Twitter
Mr. Habermehl works out of a 7 tech where he works in both a speed rush and bull rush in his toolbox when rushing the passer. Both of which he uses to beat the offensive tackle and can then close to either come away with the sack or generate pressure on the quarterback. He uses his quick first step in run support to get out of his stance quickly and his hands in attack position resulting in him blowing up the run in the backfield. This young man currently has a good basis in his toolbox to get the job done in both pass rush and run support, be sure to keep an eye on him this upcoming season.
Kelley Gassner Kelley Gassner 6'1" | 180 lbs | LB Huntley | 2025 IL Twitter
Mr. Gassner is an outside linebacker that showcases his range and ability to secure tackles on the perimeter for no gain when he’s split wide to the field. When he’s walked up in the box, he has the ability to shoot into the B gap once the ball is hiked to meet the ball carrier in the hole resulting in no gain on the play. Currently standing at 6’1 170, he’s only going to continue to grow and fill out his frame. I’m very interested to see where that falls over these next few years as he could find success as either an outside linebacker or as a defensive end as well. Time will tell which he falls into.
Omar Coleman Omar Coleman 5'8" | 155 lbs | WR Plainfield North | 2025 IL Twitter
I had the chance to see Mr. Coleman live in action during our recent PRZ IL Showcase and man he put on a show earning WR MVP, for reference he won out over a multitude of older receivers that holds offers across all levels. Turn on the first clip of his highlights and you’ll see just why he won our WR MVP. His ability to not only get in/out of his breaks quickly but also use his foot quicks to break long runs for six are one to keep an eye on. Whether he’s lined up as a receiver or in the backfield as a halfback, his ability to change direction in an instance and shiftiness are what separates him from other players in the state.
Jack Reilly Jack Reilly 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB St Francis | 2025 State IL Twitter
Mr. Reilly is set to learn behind Standout Alessio Milivojevic Alessio Milivojevic 6'1" | 205 lbs | QB St. Francis | 2024 State IL which will only accelerate his development. This young man currently has the ability to go through his progressions, so much so that in one clip in his highlights he’s able to get the ball off to his checkdown as he’s being brought down by the defender. He also provides glimpses of standing strong in the pocket to get the ball off under pressure keeping the chains moving. Another young up-and-coming St. Francis young man.
