Not only are the movement skills that it takes to be successful at this position very hard to come across, but it is even harder to find multiple players who can do this successfully in one place, at a young age. Because of this, we always try to do our best to give our due diligence to the best CB’s in the state of Georgia, regardless of their class, as we recognize some of these players’ trajectories, and the talent that they have already put on film. Below, we have already listed some of our favorite CB’s in the state, who we feel are very much set to stand out next season.
Jack Tchienchou Jack Tchienchou 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB St. Pius X Catholic | 2023 State GA – St. Pius Catholic School
Not only is Tchienchou one of most talented DB’s in the state of Georgia, but we also believe that he is one of the most up and coming players as well. He has already received a great amount of offers, and it is easy to see why when you cut on his film. Not only does he move with a quick, and explosive nature, but he gets in and out of his breaks well, transitions cleanly when changing direction, and flips his hips effortlessly. He also plays with good long speed, and an awareness of the game around him. For example, Tchienchou does a good job of making tackles in the backfield, and has no problem sticking his nose in the pile as needed. He also does a good job of positioning his body well when shadowing movement, which can be seen in his turnovers, and the way that he breaks up passes. Look for 2022 to be a huge year for him.
Brandon Strozier- St. Francis
Not only is Strozier committed to Clemson due to his extensive talent, but his commitment likely comes due to the versatility in his game. Not only is Strozier a fast, and twitchy player, but he displays this in short area, and long range situations. To start, he plays with good footwork and body control, and this can be seen in the way that he flips his hips, changes direction, and is able to shadow movement with little waste of natural movement. Strozier also does a good job of using his hands, and body to position himself in ways that outleverages opposing players, and puts him in position to make plays.
Martel Hight Martel Hight 5'11" | 165 lbs | ATH Rome | 2023 State GA – Rome
High has plenty of upside to his game, especially due to the fact that he plays both sides of the ball. His movement skills, twitch, and shiftiness definitely translate well because of this, and we firmly believe that the way he changes direction, gets in and out of his pedals, and mirrors movement is largely due to his understanding of both sides of the football. High plays a very natural, and smooth style of ball, as he bends well, and uses his hands, length, and speed to do the dirty work for him. In coverage, he puts his body in good position to make plays, and even outleverages receivers at times as well.
Brice Pollock Brice Pollock 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Shiloh | 2023 State GA – Shiloh
One of the things that stands out most about Pollock’s game, is his ability to change direction on a dime, and to be able to react naturally to the game at hand. Because he bends well, and gets in and out of his breaks cleanly, he positions himself to make plays on the ball, including interceptions, and pass break ups. In addition to this, Pollock also plays with good footwork, which allows him to put himself in position to shadow receivers, no matter the complexity of the route, and match them step for step. With this, Pollock also does a good job at driving to the football, and making tackles when needed, especially along the sidelines, or down the field. Next season, if he continues to play at the speed and efficiency that he currently does, we expect him to have his best season yet before moving on to Pitt.
