While evaluating 2025 players for our initial rankings launch, one thing became clear. This quarterback class is going to go down in the books as one of Mississippi’s best ever. With multiple players already receiving offers from colleges around the country, the 2025 class from top to bottom is incredibly deep. Here are some of the guys we are high on already and expect big things from as sophomores this 2022 season.
Emile Picarella Emile Picarella 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB University Lab | 2025 State LA | St Joseph
Emile Picarella Emile Picarella 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB University Lab | 2025 State LA has been no stranger to the spotlight. The No. 2 player in the 2025 class entered his high school career with a lot of hype, and proved it in a big way as a freshman last season. In his first season starting, the 6’2″ 200 pound QB led Saint Joseph to a 9-2 record. Picarella has the making of a future national recruit. The passer has well developed lower body mechanics for his age and moves well in the pocket. He knows when to step up to evade the rush and when to scramble and leave. Picarella has a big arm and quick release that allow him to throw to all levels of the field. He does a great job at scanning the field and finding his open man. Accuracy has not been a problem for Picarella either, as he thrives in both the intermediate and deep game. Big things ahead for the young rising star. Picarella currently holds offers from Ole Miss, Oregon, Akron, and Pittsburgh.
Deuce Knight Deuce Knight 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB George County | 2025 State MS | George County
Another star of the 2025 class, Deuce Knight Deuce Knight 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB George County | 2025 State MS has been on college boards for a while now. Adding his first offer from Indiana while he was still in middle school, Knight has been seen as one of the best athletes in the country for a while now. The 6’4″ 185 quarterback has the frame to be a massive threat as both a runner and a passer. Knight is a left handed quarterback with a huge arm. The ball comes out with a ton of zip on it and can sail 50-60+ yards downfield with a quick flick of the wrist. Knight does a great job at reading the defense and shows advanced understanding of coverage at a young age. He also has well developed lower body mechanics and can maneuver around the pocket with ease. As a runner, Knight is a threat to pull the ball on read runs for huge gains. He is a long strider that can accelerate when he hits the next level. Looking for this guy to take over the state in his 2022 sophomore campaign.
Wyatt Bond Wyatt Bond 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Lamar | 2025 State MS | Lamar
With one of the more live arms in the class, Wyatt Bond Wyatt Bond 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Lamar | 2025 State MS broke into our initial rankings of the 2025 QB class. Bond stands at 6’1″ 175 and showcases some really impressive arm talent. Having a baseball background to him, Bond is capable of throwing from a variety of arm angles. He gets good zip on the ball, but can vary the amount of velocity when needed. Bond looks his best in the RPO game and off of play-action. He does a great job at riding the mesh point, keying his defender, and delivering an accurate strike downfield. Bond has an impressive quick release that allows him to get the ball out of his hands fast. As an athlete, Bond is quick and twitchy. He is a threat in the run game and can break some big runs in the open field. Looking forward to his 2022 varsity season this year.
Coleman Carter Coleman Carter 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Adams County Christian | 2025 State MS | Adams County Christian
Completing 74% of his passes for 2,408 yards and rushing for an additional 623 yards, Adams County Christian’s Coleman Carter Coleman Carter 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Adams County Christian | 2025 State MS totaled a remarkable 30 touchdowns as a freshman. When watching Carter’s tape, you forget that he has only played a year of high school football. The way that Carter carries himself and plays the game makes him look like a 4th year starter in his offense. Carter has a huge arm and thrives on the deep ball. There may not be a better deep ball thrower in the class. Carter generates a ton of velocity behind his passes and gets the ball out quickly. He does a great job at allowing the play to develop before taking his chance downfield. As an athlete, Carter is a quick runner that keeps his eyes downfield and executes scramble drill well. Could see Carter end up being a top 10 player in the 2025 class when it is all said and done.
Bryce Warriner Bryce Warriner 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Tri County Academy | 2025 State MS | Tri County Academy
With a completion percentage of 76% last season, Bryce Warriner Bryce Warriner 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Tri County Academy | 2025 State MS threw 28 touchdowns in his first year starting at Tri County Academy. The 6’2″ 190 passer showed a ton of promise as a future college prospect at a young age. Warriner processes the field extremely well and is capable of going through multiple reads to find his open receiver. He stands tall in the pocket and has a natural feel for when to step up, evade the rush, or leave the pocket. With his quick release, the ball jumps out of his hand with a ton of velocity on it. This makes Warriner hard to stop on intermediate routes over the middle. Combining his physical attributes with his accuracy, there doesn’t look like there is a throw this guy cannot make. In addition to his passing skill set, Warriner also flashes as a runner in the option game. Really promising year ahead for the rising sophomore.
Garrison Davis Garrison Davis 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Holmes County Central | 2025 State MS | Ridgeland
After playing behind rising junior Landon Varnes Landon Varnes 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Brandon | 2024 State MS at Brandon High School, Garrison Davis Garrison Davis 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Holmes County Central | 2025 State MS elected to transfer to Ridgeland High School following his freshman season. The 5’10” 175 pound quarterback spent most his time on the Brandon JV team last season, but should make a push for the starting job at Ridgeland this upcoming year. Davis has the skillset to be a dominant passer in a spread offense. He has smooth mechanics in the pocket and throws with great timing and accuracy. Davis does a great job at going through his progressions and remaining calm in the pocket while the rush starts to come in. He handles the ball well and distributes the ball to his playmakers in space. Davis also has some added mobility that helps him create plays when the play breaks down. Looking forward to watching him in the 2022 season; big ceiling for the young passer.
Silas Corder Silas Corder 6'1" | 210 lbs | QB Pascagoula | 2025 State MS | Pascagoula

The rising sophomore stands at 6’0″ 190 and looks to be the future starter for Pascagoula, flashing in some offseason 7v7s this summer. Corder is a well developed passer who throws a nice looking deep ball. He has good footwork in the pocket and operates off of play-action with a ton of efficiency. Corder is comfortable in the pocket and is willing to take hits as he lets the ball rip downfield. He demonstrates good accuracy at all levels of the field and shows that he can progress through his reads as well. Looking for big things from him in what should be his first full season as a starter on varsity.
Jay Beamon Jay Beamon 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Cleveland Central | 2025 State MS | Cleveland Central
A bit of an unknown commodity at this point in the year, Cleveland Central’s Jay Beamon Jay Beamon 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Cleveland Central | 2025 State MS is set to take the state by storm this season. Beamon has flashed a ton of talent in 7v7 this off season and looked the part in his spring game back in May. At 6’3″ 205, Beamon has prototypical size for the position and looks like he will only get bigger. Beamon has a great release and shows good arm strength at all levels of the field. While his tape is limited right now, it is not hard to see why his name is becoming wide spread this offseason. Looking forward to watching him in his first season starting this year.
