They trust him in pass coverage, line him up all over the field and even have him covering slot guys in man coverage sometimes. He is a ball hawk who had a big interception last season and recovered multiple fumbles. He's good at coming up to stop the run and is a very good tackler. He showed impressive agility and had one of the best shuttle times for a linebacker. When you look at his film he shows that he has good football instincts that you can't teach. When in pass coverage, he drops to the right places and closes to the ball quickly. He's a solid tackler and will improve on that when he adds some size and strength. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="201417" first="Battle" last="Gideons"], St. Margaret's, 2024</strong> Gideons is a player with a lot of upside and his film is even more impressive knowing that he is hearing impaired. He is a very good edge rusher and does an excellent job attacking the outside shoulder of the ball carrier which is smart because he knows he has help inside. He's an unselfish player who takes good angles which sets up either him or a teammate for the tackle. When defending the run, he is very patient but still gets in the backfield and keeps his outside containment. Adding strength and size would improve his game but he is working very hard on that and is a very disciplined student athlete. Sometimes he lines up as an inside backer and when he does he reads his guards well and maintains gap integrity. He is good at shedding blocks when coming downhill because he can evade guys with his athleticism. He closes to the ball quickly and can lay big hits. Reid is a baseball guy who works hard and has been active on the camp circuit.
